Re: Birds Birds Birds
Lussi, in the Black Stork Forum there is one topic open: Pictures and Informations about Black Storks
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=28 - in case there are things about them to report! Carsten Rohde left for Israel this weekend and naturally we all hope he will see many storks (our fingers are crossed for those we know!)

No problem, Lussi! I also have to think sometimes where to put things, sometimes it's not easy! After all, the storks are also birds!

Since a few days I saw a pair of nuthatch in our garden. They are very interested on the new nesting box. I'm very happy to catch them yesterday with the cam. I didn't see nuthatch here in our garden since 15 years and maybe they will breed next season .
I couldn't record closer because the zooming of my cam isn't soooo good and the distance to the box is to far away.

Manu, nice to meet your Nuthatc:)
Today, just when I came home from work, I saw a big bird that sailed over our house. I don't think it's our usual Buzzard, it seems "heavier" and the breast colours are brighter. I also think the tail is longer, and with different pattern, but I have been wrong many times so..I run into my house and got my camera. It's only a compact camera, and the bird was high up in the sky, so the pictures are not very good. I post them anyway, and hope someone can help. We are so curious, so I cross my fingers..

I think it's Northern Goshawk. Could be female, if you say it looks "heavy".

I was thinking about guessing maybe an Accipiter, but I did not think of the big one.
I hope you get lucky with the nuthatches next year Manu.

I didn't think of Goshawk We used to have Goshawk here some years ago, they was after our hens all the time. One of them even came in to their yard, and we had to help him out. It was very special to be so close to such a beautiful and proud bird. After the Buzzards came to this area we have not seen them, so it is great if they are back..
Thank you Vainamoinen and Alice:)

It looks as if it is a young blue tit.

If they would come and take whatever I offer during winter ... it would have been nice "TV" for Blacky!
But maybe once there is no cat behind the blinds at the window ... I'll try again this winter!

They like peanuts (half or so) but also sunflower seeds (on my window "geschält") and I will give "peanut energy cake" in the tree.Felis silvestris wrote:If they would come and take whatever I offer during winter ... it would have been nice "TV" for Blacky!

Great pictures, Felis, Fireblade and Flex Do you all have new camera?
Flex, which owl and bird of prey are on your pictures?
An Eagle- Owl (bubo bubo) and Northern Goshawk (Acipiter gentilis) ??
It's just a guess though

I think you are right about the Eagle Owl, but you make a mistake about Northern Goshawk. This is a sparrowhawk, I think the male, due to rusty color on the cheeks. And predator in last picture is male Honey Buzzard.Lussi05 wrote:Great pictures, Felis, Fireblade and Flex Do you all have new camera?
