There were no male common eiders and we could see only females and chicks. They resembled mallards a bit but at the same time they ate fish while mallards don't.
It's weird but in Iceland ppl eat puffins!

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,

There are very many puffins in Iceland and I think they cook them for tourists. No idea why they do it, 'cause all fish eating birds considered to be unedible.

No, they aren't globally endangered. Life far in the north isn't easy. Puffins looks beautiful for us but Iceland has the biggest puffin population in the world and it's traditional source of meat. I think it's not right to blame local people for hunting of these birds.

Yes, you are right, number of puffins is decreasing, possibly due to global warming. However world population according to IUCN isn't endangered.

The falcon looks a bit apprehensive as to what happens to his chicks, but the photo is beautiful! Thanks airras and Jordi!
