it's the winter solstice today. after this the days will begin to become longer.
it's about time! the darkness is beginning to get on my nerves. with no snow it's even worse. but today we are lucky to have a thin layer of snow, just a little more than in Käsmu. hopefully it will not melt away instantly.

Yes!! Although the really cold weather is yet to come both here & in Estonia, at least the daylight will begin to get longer, so it will be easier for me to see the cams during daytime (Europe's daytime).

i was wrong about the winter solstice: it was not yesterday.
it was today morning at 5.30 (UTC), 2 and half hours ago. anyways, now we are on the safe side and the days will become longer.
i just assumed that it would automatically be Dec 21st (like it is most often). last year it happened to be very late in the evening on 21st so that in EET it was right after midnight.

For me here in Kansas City, Missouri, USA, it happened at 11:30 PM (23:30) 21st December, or 2 hrs & 50 minutes ago. Dawn will be at 7:34 AM & sunset will be at 4:59 PM (16:59). Then 23 December will be 3 seconds longer! But at least it is a start.

I also want to wish everyone here at Looduskalender a very HAPPY CHRISTMAS!
Have a good and peaceful time with your loved ones!
And - let my cat be the second one to wish here:
Today morning, inspecting the tree (with the help of the table next to it, she does not climb the tree, but she absolutely loves it!)

I did not even get a tree so my cat has to sleep as usual, in one of my chairs, tonight he is in front of the sewing machine.
Happy Christmas to all

I have greetings from Leonia for you all - she has got problems with her browser and password, so she can't post herself.
Best wishes to you all, may it be for a merry Christmas, a happy
chanukka or some days of holiday either!
Since I changed my internet-browser I'm no longer able to post in the
forum, so I hope one will send my wishes further on to the
looduskalender-community instead. Leonia
