While searching, found this prose poem, "Crow Joy", by Aimee Nezhukumatathil:
Almost all of the gold leaf on the Kremlin domes was scratched off years ago from the fleet of crows converging at the top. Contrary to popular belief, they were not stealing the shiny flakes for their nests, as they would a lovely kerchief pinned too loose on a clothesline, or withered breadfruit left too long in sun. A closer look revealed their game of sliding down those onion domes, their claws scraping the roofskin raw. In sunlight, crow wings flash a wild blue, as blue as the nose of a jolly mandrill. Half a world away, a family of these monkeys dips their fingers into a stream for the first time – their black fingernails dulled square for scratching stems to drink, their noses wet, warm. A shopkeeper near the Lobnoye Mesto, The Place of Skulls, once recorded distressed crow calls to scare the birds from their play. But the top was too high or the tape too quiet – the birds’ feet already too gilded to ever want to step foot on this earth again.

Now I have a wild video-- We all know hooded crows absolutely LOVE to pull the tails of predators (they do it to eagles all the time). So in the video, these two cats are about to get in a fight-- well, watch it & see if you can guess whose side the hooded crows are on. By the way, the person who put the video together chose really astounding music for it! (Caution-- the cats do fight, viciously, so be forewarned.)

WOW, the Crows are really tough, I would not have risked ending up in the middle of a catfight...maybe they have a bet going on???

How Jack Hanna ever became as famous a "naturalist" as he is, I do not know. As he gets older, he seems to me to be more & more of a buffoon. He acts like a kid with no attention span. He has been on TV here in the USA with various animal oriented television programs for decades, it seems. Why? I don't know.macdoum wrote:Now this man doesn't know the very first thing about bears.. I don't know if you all find it so funny, but I had a good laugh the other day at work. I was looking through the mail and had one envelope with some really nice stamps, coming from Lietuva. Remarked to my boss about it, turned the envelope around, and saw - sender was from Riga, Latvia. We laughed, I opened the envelope and out came ...

Kitty I sent this video on and someone said the crows were interested in collecting bedding for their nests. Could be true..they are so clever and surely the 'fur was flying' there.Kitty KCMO wrote:Now I have a wild video-- We all know hooded crows absolutely LOVE to pull the tails of predators (they do it to eagles all the time). There certainly was fur flying everywhere! It seemed to me almost as if the crows were "egging on" (inciting) the fight between the cats. Bold crows!

They are like house cats with catnip! The pine, fir, & spruce must have a similar scent to them.

I thought this cat fight mostly in fun (they look like siblings) was a nice relief after the video of the terrible fight (caused by those mean crows)
I think the music is nice but louder than it needs to be.
