Re: Welcome ~ Where do you live?
Hi Everyone!
I'm a 49 year-old-girl from norhernEurope, Finland and live in the capital city,Helsinki. (I try to attach a map). I am really really lousy with these "machines", but I try to cope with them and try not to mess up the whole Microsoft.
I love nature and all kind of animals, but especially Wolves and Eagles. I have a cottage on an island in the archipelago on the south coust in front of the city Abo (called on the map) (Hope i managed with the map!!). There i often see Ospreys and White-tailed sea eagles fly up above
I have been watching this lovely Osprey family since Piret layed the second egg (Elo). I guess my employer isnt 100% satisfied with my work!! But Pirets family is much more important-I think i can say that !I am addicted"!!!
Piret is om avatar picture. I dont know how I will survive the whole winter, especially when you dont know how the rest of the family is down there in Africa. I really long for the next Spring and Piret/Madis back to the nest.
And I really appreciate (my employer doesnt ) everyone who made this possible. And thank you, thank you everyone for being here <3. And....Urmas - a million thanks for your information of how Piret has it <3<3<3

Thanks Nilla, for reminding us of this topic! I have been wanting to write here for ages and keep on forgetting!
The boar cam has brought me here last year, and got me hooked immediately to the beauty of Estonian nature. Always a great lover of nature and animals and especially birds (owls) I fell in love with the LSE last summer and this topic got me so much that I started collecting everything I could find, which was then the base for the "Aquila Pomarina Database" here.
As Leonia already disclosed a bit further up, I live and work in Munich, but I grew up on the country side. I have two grown-up kids. My cat Blacky sadly went over the rainbow bridge in May after a short and severe illness, which was (and still is) quite hard for me. So I'm quite glad to have a new task here in and with the forum. It has been a source for getting to know lots of very interesting and nice people from all over the world who share my likes.

I am Wil and I live in The Haque in The Netherlands. I am 58 years and married with my husband for 36 years. We have no childeren, our dogs was our childeren. My avatar is my German Shepard Lady and she is 9 years already. I am a very shy person even on the forum, so I postpone my reaction. I love animals as long as I can remember. I collected everything about animals and made so many pictures as possible from different animals. I made databases with latin names, families, ordes etc. I was fortunate that I went alone 3 times on safari in Kenya in 1988, 1989 and 1991. That was an experience so overwelming I will never forget. It is still in my head. My first dog died in 1992 and in the same year we took two problem dogs from the asylum in our house. We came for a Tervuerense Shepard, he was disturbed in his head because people had locked him on a balkony for 3 weeks without food . He was in love on a German Shepard there, so we said let see her also. Then we heard she wasn't placebel anymore. She was there for the third time, had a police record and some instanties want to come together to agree she had to die. So we went home and I said to my husband I want to take the German Shepard also. Together we can handle the problems. So I had my hands full at my dogs and my work so I had no time anymore for my hobby. This year for the first time I watched birdcams in my own country Beleef de Lente. Someone placed a link to Looduskalender and well I was right away hooked. I have not followed it from the beginning but I have seen all eggs came out. It is also the first I am in a forum. It is nothing for me, I am a person on the background but I realised that lots of people in other countries couldn't follow the nest in daylight because of the time difference. So I signed myself in, learned to make pictures and video's and to upload them. So have patience with my reactions. I have to give short answers because the translations does strange things with long sentence. I feel honoured to be a part of this forum with people of all over the world who love animals also. I look forward to the spring when the birds meet again on the nest .

Such lovely and interesting people we have here on the forum. We all seem to have a major thing in common, and that is our love for animals, no matter what part of the world we are from. ♥

Oh what an interesting thread
Hey, I'm Anja. I am 43 years old and work in an office (attorney). I have no children - but a niece (23 year old) and my cat
My real name is the reason why my nickname is in lowercase and only the middle is as large letter.
I am from Germany - Bremen.
Source: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bremen
The link to this forum I found through another community (a cat community) where the nest of Madis, Piret, Uno, Elo and Nori was specified. I've only just observed the nest, every day and read in this community. And I registered many weeks later.
I immediately fell in love with the osprey, so in love that I made the video (in my signature). I love to create videos, it's one of my hobbies.
I'll wait for next spring to see again Madis and Piret.
Through this forum I must use my school english knowledge.
For me it's difficult but it's good to improve my English. (I really try it. Even though it will probably remain forever bad.)

Then I began to watch Spot the little lesser spotted eagle and Linda and Sulev, the white tailed eagles. As there are no eagles in my region, it is twice nice to watch them via cam. When I visited Canada last year I enjoyed to see bald eagles and ospreys fly and hunting live! It is allways a great show and I would like to see them more often. But even much more I would love to see an eagle owl flying by night in the moonlight only once
By the way: I'm 39, technical writer and when I'm not watching cams, I play roller hockey and try to photograph a lot - preferable in nature, but unfortunately I'm living in the town...

Hi my name is Jürgen and I am as of writing this post 17 years old. I first learned about Looduskalender in 2009 and back then I was a regular viewer for the Tawny owl camera and later on the White tailed eagle camera. I made my Looduskalender account in 2010 to join in in the WTE camera discussion.
I ended up also helping a little bit in a research about that WTE camera. The research is as of this time not yet completed though (I am not in charge of that research). Unfortunately though the next year I had even less time to spare and also Linda and Sulev decided to not show themselves in the camera anymore. So since the beginning of 2011 I have been extremely unactive.
Right now though I am on my exchange year (my native country is Estonia) to Canada, Ontario. Unfortunate for me I am residing in the Southern-Ontario and there are no eagles around, a few hawks here and there and also turkey vultures. And now that there is even less birds of prey to observe I am dieing of anticipation for the winter WTE camera. Until then though I will most probably stay unactive in regards of creating any posts. I am though checking my Looduskalender account nearly every day so I am open for any PM-s.

Hi Jurgen,
Nice to meet you. You might start here for looking for eagles in Southern Ontario. http://www.discover-southern-ontario.co ... eagle.html
Otherwise, there are a LOT of eagle cams on the net. If you need help finding them, I would be glad to PM you the links.

I will definitely read through the page and I live in Stratford which is 2 hours from Toronto... going to Toronto is a luxury for me and even then I cant really go far into the place. The closes great lake is 1 hour drive or so and it is Lake Huron and this south there arent really many Bald eagles... though my host mom did see a bald eagle at Sarnia yesterday so I might see it before I go back to Estonia
I have asked a lot of people if they have seen bald eagles where my host family lives but the closest sighting was around 50 kilometers away... so to actually see a bald eagle i would really have to think of a good reason why to go somewhere where they live (problem is my host parents dont want to drive me nearly anywhere )
I know that there are a lot of eagle cams it is just I am waiting for Estonian WTE winter camera because it is in my home country

I think this is a nice place for a new start...
My name is Petra, I am 53 years old and I live with my husband and our dog in Germany.
I watched the boar cam for some years and in 2011 I became a member of the forum. I enjoyed it so much!
But last year we had a computer crash and after that I couldn't log in again.
When ever I tried, it crashed again . I was so sorry, going without a word .
But now I got my little tablet PC and I am so happy...I can watch again .
greetings, Petra

Thank you for the warm welcome, Alice and Manu. I missed you and the forum, too (and this ).
I often thought, that you must think that something happened, I am sorry for that . But everything is ok.
Now I have to look how to post pics. iPad works with photobucket, but something is wrong with the size. I tried yesterday, but I didn't like it.
