Mourning The Passing of Nelson Mandela.

Post by Jo UK »

Nelson Mandela has died at his home in South Africa.
He is known as "The man who destroyed apartheid"

Forum members in so many countries will want to mark the passing of this great man, hence this topic devoted to South Africa's famous son, as described by President Zuma, this evening.

"Madiba" had such a profound effect on people in all countries, leading the way to peace and acceptance between races. He was patient and tolerant. He taught others to be the same. The world is a better place for his influence.

Please feel free to comment, here. Post your tributes, your condolences, yuor thoughts

My condolences on this loss of a charismatic man to South Africa and his family! His wise influence will be missed all over the world!

What a life this man has spent.
In my mind his name will stay connected forever with fight against apartheid and discrimination, and fight for freedom and human rights.
My condolences to his family.

Rest in Peace Mandiba, as he was known to his people. He was a generous, kind man but an astute politician. I remember best how well the transition went after many years of strife.
Nelson Mandela is admired throught the world. He had immense influence in some african countries. Africa could do with many of his kind.
In spite of 27 years in prison he was not a man to carry grudges & just moved on to do the best for his people.
A man of great vision has moved on...but we will celebrate his life.

the world lost a great personality

No one is born to hate another human being. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, then you can also be taught to love, for love felt by the human heart much more natural than its opposite. .... Nelson Mandela

Listen to the Peter Gabriel tribute from 1980 "Biko" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLg-8Jxi5aE) or remember the movie about Steven Biko ("Cry Freedom"). For me this was the first moment when I understood what the word "Apartheid" meant.
Without the Nelson Mandela Birthday Tribute Concert in 1988 things wouldn't have been accelerated so clearly in South Africa.

Let us celebrate gratefully Nelson Mandela's life together with South-African people. It gives hope of better life to people who still live under oppression in their own countries: a change for better is possible one day.
