Re: What is Going On?

Post by Lussi05 »

It is a very strange and unreal situation we have here in Norway now, with the bombing in Oslo, and the terrible killing of 84 young people who was on the Labour Partys annual summer camp on Utøya in Tyrifjorden. Utøya is in the same county as I live in, located on the other side of the fjord from where I live ( Tyrifjorden). Yesterday we heard the helicopters who was flying over the area all afternoon and evening. Words can not describe our feelings right now, and our thoughts goes to all those who have lost their loved and precious ones in this terrible tragedy..
Thank you all for the good thoughts you are sending to those who is affected..

Lussio my thoughts are with you and all the Norwegian people now.
It is such a useless tragedy and some people are so brutal and go out killing innocent people. No reason on earth can condone such an act. :cry:
May you all hold hands to survive this sorry time.

I signed that too (I am a member so I see their stuff regular like) I still cannot wrap my head around that hate and that he was influenced by American haters and even used their nonsensical writings within his diatribe. Hate lingers -- we need to spread compassion and concern to combat the actions of just a few.

Viking ship discovered in Saaremaa My translation follows;

Archeologists have found a boat dating to the year 750. They are convinced they have found one of th earliest sailing ships (with sails) used in the Baltic
Found recently on the island of Saaremaa, the boat of 17 metres served as a tomb to 35 warriors.
Some google news too.

I have yet to read the longer posts -- but it sounds like they found one earlier and now a second -- that is kind of impressive.

I think not directly on Saaremaa, this is a rather big island, with roads and places where people live. It would be strange if nobody can go there like it was written about the seal cam island. With the help of the lighthouse which was visible in the evening I tried to find the smaller island off Saaremaa where the cam is. I think, I found it :whistling:

We have a new webcam!

viewtopic.php?f=51&t=301

It is not a streaming video, as we have become used to, but a time lapse camera which will produce an updated video each day.
This will be something llike watching coral grow.

Hi Jo! Thank you for checking up on me! :wave:

I am very far north of the epicenter of that earthquake - I did not feel a thing! I do have family and friends in that area, though.
