from chat:
what happened to the nest.
GinnyLWI: A part of the nest towards the road broke off early last evening
I shudder when I think of all the time these two spent lying down and looking out over the rails where the nest is gone now.
GinnyLWI: Agree, the timing is so much better than it could have been

...: Hi Ginny and all, just wondering if it is possible that this whole nest can now fall apart? I sure hope not but it seems to be going!

GinnyLWI: I suppose it could Judith although what remains appears stable for now.

Ginny, how much do you think the eaglets weigh now?

From moderator:
I cannot answer on speculation right now, right now we don't know if our eagles will repair this nest, if they can't we don't know where they would relocate. I would rather just wait and see what happens with all of you and then some of these answers will be known.

Thanks for nest pics, it is a big part of the nest missing. It will be interesting to see next season whether the eagles build again this nest or find another tree for a new nest.

The Fish That Got Away, E7 Grabs & Delivers Long Vine (Slow Mo Clips)~5-1-16
Video/Pics: (captured/edited by UrDogNu) https://youtu.be/V1icgHm9alU

96/94days days old
At 10:07am, Dad delivers a nice fish with both chicks in the nest. Neither one claims the fish which is right on the edge of a newly collapsed portion of the nest. Dad goes to pick it up but more of the nest breaks away and he ends up just below the nest on a branch and drops the fish Mom also arrives in the upper branch.
E7 grabs something while departing the nest tree around 10:29am, flies around and eventually brings it back to the nest.
EDIT: M15 has been to the nest later and is OK.

A Hover That Almost Became A Fledge 05-01-16
VIDEO by wskrsnwings: https://youtu.be/4oEU9jLOgFo
E8 hovered beautifully over and out from the nest tree as if to fledge but returned to the nest tree branches. Fledging is an event rather than an ongoing process. It is the time when birds make their first flight away from the nest tree. In bald eagles this typically occurs around 10-12 weeks of age.

E7 bringing nest material - she apparently wants to contribute to rebuilding the collapsing home nest :D

Look how the nest disaster has progressed:

I am truly interested in seeing what happens next season here (maybe already next summer before we can follow them): how do Harriet and M15 react with loss of their nest, will they rebuild the old one, will they search a new nest tree nearby or will they vanish outside the Pritchett's cams?

The nest breaks always further. It is sad to see that. I have a bit sorrows, that we can see later Harriet and M15 no more.
Nobody knows how they will be react of this situation. Hopefully, we will it experience...
