:loveshower: I am so glad several of you are keeping watch on the Florida & Decorah, Iowa, nests. I did not know about the Florida nest until I saw a post here from Venegor. Tonight, I went & peeked, & mom was guarding her eaglets in the deep night. I think some mosquitoes were bothering her.

Does anybody know, why these small chicks are so often alone already? I have never seen anything like that before!

Most of the time one of the parents is on the nest or perching on a branch just above it, a bit like how Piret often was sitting on the cam support. Also, in the subtropical climate of Florida it isn't necesary for the parents to shelter the eaglets against the weather all the time. However, right now one of the parents is giving shade to the small rascals.

Nothing wrong if the parents are somewhere nearby and not like Tuuli and Remo.

Here a picture of the actual situation (from http://www.hancockwildlife.org):

You see that mum Harriet is feeding the two chicks while dad Ozzie is overlooking the situation from the branch above the nest.
