As Delilah definitively left the area on Monday, Samson possessed the nest.
Sam has made it "loud and clear" that the nest territory is his and mom and dad are only allowed if they "deliver"

Samson was seen last time on Tuesday, April 22nd.
Now only parents visit the nest. As the both kids hit the skies, it's time for their vacation. Cam will be off soon.

DNR cam
about 2 days ago rainy days, Mom has trouble protecting her big babies:
Seen here 5 fresh sized fishes
Dad must be a good hunter (or have a good source).
All three are well grown.
It is a calm nest, always well-fed Eaglets. Always food in abundance there.
The difference in size has not been a problem.

MNBound cam:
Yesterday, at sunday a very sad day in MNBound Nest.
Skye, the youngest chick passed away.
I quote here from the Blog of TalonStrike. (It's better than my bad english):
"The simplest explanation is that Skye succumbed to hypothermia due to the weather conditions. She was wet and it was cold at the nest today. It does not take very long for an under 10 ounce eaglet with no thermoregulation to chill to the to the point of unsurvivability. It is true we will never know the actual cause of Skye’s being taken from us but that is the most likely, and simplest, explanation."
"After the 1300 feeding Mom seemed to know Skye was gone. She was very careful moving her at first and finally settled back in over the other 2 with her talons resting on Skye’s body. As the day progressed both Mom and Dad gradually covered Skye with nest materials ..."
"Chatters from all over the Eagle Nation and beyond came to both chats to offer sympathy and condolences. We appreciate each and every one of you that did. It helped make the loss easier and gave us comfort. Thank you all for being there for us today."
A lovely tribute to Skye from BirdBrain56: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVlPRmag ... e=youtu.be

DNR Eagle cam:
Eaglet Snap continues to appear to be stuck on something in the nest
http://eagleholic.wordpress.com/2014/05 ... ap-at-dnr/
Update 05/02/2014 10:30 PM:
"A struggling baby eagle has been removed from its nest by the Department of Natural Resources and has a serious injury.
An eaglet, who some call "Snap" and is less than two months old, continues to fight for its life. The chick was seen struggling on the DNR EagleCam.
According to the DNR, the chick was not stuck, but has an injury that prevented the chick from moving. The eaglet has been taken to the Raptor Center in St. Paul for rehabilitation."

DNR nest rescue-- there are pictures of the rescue and the Eaglet being treated at the Raptor Centre on DNR facebook https://www.facebook.com/MinnesotaNonga ... ifeProgram
Hope the Eaglet will get well enough to be returned to the nest. The injuries look serious.
Cam back on, as of this posting still only 2 in the nest. http://www.webcams.dnr.state.mn.us/eagle/
A second Eaglet at a different nest, River Farms, was freed from fishing line attached to a fish brought for food. All is well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ov9yElvG ... e=youtu.be
Busy few days for Eaglet rescue.

Sadly, the injured chick from our eagle cam nest had to be euthanized.
Please read update from TRC.
The Raptor Center admitted the eaglet from the MNDNR cam on Friday May 2, allowing us to provide emergency support and care. Upon admission, diagnostic imaging showed the bird had suffered a severe injury to its elbow with bone loss resulting in a lack of integrity to the elbow joint. The bird was also suffering a systemic infection. Unfortunately, the eaglet's condition made it impossible for the bird to survive successfully in the wild. Furthermore, damaged joints are a major cause of ongoing discomfort for birds, even if kept in captivity.
Sadly, as a result, the most humane path forward for this eaglet was euthanasia. Such an outcome is never taken lightly and is only decided upon by a team of veterinarians after discussing all options.
We appreciate all the positivity and support that was shown to this eaglet and to our veterinarians as we cared for and treated this bird.

Who the photos / video of the rescue and later in the Raptor Center has seen ...
Hard to believe.
These Things can happen, every day, every hour.
Snap, now a part of a row of my watch nests.
Kaari, E3, the 3 Hungarian Eaglets, Skye...
Snap, now also you, fly high and free...
