It probably takes all her energy to stand, so she stops. She must be somewhat de-conditioned after sitting for so many hours of each day for weeks now. I know I am! :rotf:

I found some information at my local TV station's website about the Decorah nest:

"Built in 2007, the nest is located in a cottonwood tree about 80 feet high near the Decorah Fish Hatchery, operated by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and located in the extreme northeast section of the state in Decorah, Iowa. The nest spans six feet and is approximately five feet deep and weighs approximately 1,365 pounds. A previous nest built prior to 2007 fell when a windstorm broke one of the branches."

I also know this nest was featured in the film "American Eagle" for the program "Nature" on our national public television service in 2010 or 2011.

I sent my dad some information and a link and he said -- their Red-winged Black Birds sound just like ours :innocent:

(My mom's favourite birds but she probably came to love them when she lived in northern Indiana)

I really love the redwing blackbird song, too. It's kind of like: con-ga-reeeee over & over. I think it is cute the way they puff up their red & yellow shoulder patches when they sing that song.

Mother waits patiently for her first chick to hatch as the smaller birds sing a morning greeting. The most prominent singer is the red-winged blackbird. There are also Canada geese calling.

Venegor, good morning / good afternoon. You got a nice close-up movie of the eagle & a good look at the eggs.

:loveshower: I think there will be a chick later today. I am certain there is pipping of the egg going on because Mama keeps getting up & looking intently at the eggs as if she is listening for something. She is also restless & keeps fluffing up the nest materials.
