I agree, Alice, I wish Linda & Sulev had nested this year. I fear it is likely too late for them now. I also have noticed a couple of times tat the bald eagle parents are beginning to have some small arguments over who gets to feed the babies, & even who gets to sit with them. The father seems really to like being with them & is reluctant sometimes to give over the duties to mom when she returns to the nest.alice44 wrote:it is really too bad that we do not have Linda and Sulev for comparison this year.
It seems the father eagle really wants to feed the chicks. I do not remember Sulev hitting Linda in the beak this way, but sometimes Sulev really wanted to feed the youngsters.

The bald eagle family is having another rainy & windy night, but it is not so cold as the other night when it snowed. It is currently 43 F (6.1 C). The chicks are peeping & restless, though, as they try to stay huddled under mom. She is also restless as she tries to cover over all three of her fat babies.

It is snowing hard at the eagles now. Both mom and dad is there. All white.

Oh no! I just checked the nest & it is a storm of snow & sleet on our little family. It is only 36 F (2.2 C) there right now & windy. The snow is sticking to the cam lens. I hear a chick peeping & worry it is not covered by mom, they are getting so big, it is hard to cover all of them together.

Wow, ice covers most of the lens. But I can see two, possibly three fish in the nest, so father has been bringing food. And it sounds like someome is tearing up meat to feed the chicks, who are peeping for attention.

Oliv, they are not far outside a small town in the state of Iowa, USA. The nest is very close to a paved roadway & also very close to a fish hatchery operation. That makes it easy for father to get lots of fish. There is also a small stream that flows under the cottonwood tree, & a farmstead on a hillside not very far away. I often see a one or two horses running below & behind the nest on the hillside. The eagles do not seem to be alarmed by the traffic noise. I often see automobiles stopping on the roadway & people getting out to look up at the nest. Sometimes the camera operator will pan the camera around so the audience is able to see the countryside. Some of Venegor's videos above show this occurring.

Hi, Venegor. Looks like some nice, fresh, dry grass & corn (maize) stalks have been put in the nest after the past several days of rain, sleet & snow.
