:bounce: Congratulations Decorah North!!

Sauces Nest: 11:30ish nest time, the 2 Twins, were going at it with the Beak Boxing!!
Mom covered up her feisty twins and light rain is falling.

11:56. Jackie is feeding her little fatties, , fish!
Looks like a beautiful day in Big Bear, the wind isn’t howling and the sunshine must feel good on the eaglets!

Liz01, thanks for the video of ECC nest!

yes, Sauces BE nest looks like in a horror movie

Everywhere is bloody stuff, everyone is dirty, even the last egg does not look white anymore... and the twins are fighting instead of eating the offered food.
:slap: :D

From chat:

"Amazing how little the BigBear babies fought. I think Sauces pair fought more in a day than BB have in a full month! What a difference."

Dear Friends,
We are deeply saddened to report that the one egg at Decorah North Nest laid on February 25th was lost today in the early morning hours. Mrs North had gotten up for a change of position and the egg was already stuck to her chest, indicating that it had been crushed or collapsed, and the contents were oozing out. Clearly, there was something wrong with the shell, but we are uncertain yet at this point whether the egg was infertile or unviable. We'd like our eagle biologists to weigh in with their opinions and we'll update as we know more.

As sad as this is for all of us, please know that Mr & Mrs North, like other wildlife, live in the moment. We see them keep arriving for shift changes for an egg no longer there, and it's hard to witness that as well as an empty nest. There will probably be some speculation as to whether or not another clutch might be laid, or what will happen next and to that, we can only answer ... only the Eagles know if there is still a window of opportunity or not.

We have no other answers yet beyond this announcement and may not for some time. Collectively we say that we are as heartbroken as all of you for this sad event in the season, and wait to see how Mr & Mrs North fare. We'll post more as information is available. Thank you all for your support of the North's and to RRP, as well as Explore and our other partners.

Oh No! I’m so sorry, Liz01. I thought that the Decorah North egg had hatched.

Lubaska, you are indeed right!! The Sauces nest is a mess! :slap: The rain this week and next week will probably keep this mess around for a while.
I saw the chicks today too! More interested in beak boxing than food. But when they saw that Mom was going to cover them back up they decided that they would eat a few bites. :D
I saw this behavior this season at Berry College, back when there were two eaglets.

The BB chicks are really cute. Momster brought a nice big fish earlier, start to feed them. Later Mom goes to the branch beside. The siblings pull the fish in the nest bowl and start together their first self feeding. They are so gently to each other.

Taube - thanks for the pictures of Sauces - the mice are making out like bandits during the night, on the nest! :D
The chicks - well, what can I say -
More rain is coming this week, so they might get a good bath, or just get more dirty! Mom does her best!
