MAY 13th
BIG BEAR - STORMY
Last night he slept alone on the parents branch behind the trunk.
05:13 It was still dark, he came down slowly, looked for leftovers on the nest.
05:24 By first light, he flew out.

4 fish in 12 minutes and still fed in between.
This mother is just great.
I'm so happy about the fishpond outside the door.

yeeh, Bawet, I ve just stopped there and watched the rewind and made the same screenshots.
I love that relaxed (and heraldic, of course!) pose
With such a great Mom and with that extra blessing (having fish store just next door) the life is beautiful!
(but thinking about that poor Latvian chick dying slowly because of food shortage )

I am following Latvia with
But I'm not giving up hope yet. These little ones are very often great fighters.
Let's keep our fingers crossed that kid makes it.

Three teenagers
If you get the first morning fish at 5:40, you need to mantle and eat it behind the feathered curtain (Lucky #2 aka 19A)

DECORAH - For me, this is the winner of "Nest of the year"
Today, all 3 were walking, jumping, winging around nest. They are wonderful !
They are also digging and "cleaning" their nest

Dad has delivered an extremely big fish at 07:09... some says it was Calico Bass.
Babies were shouting with a joy and excitement, and even Mom has came very soon and shouted together with her kids.
Dad has fed the eaglets for a half an hour, then Mom told him "enough" and has fed the rest of fish. I believe she had no breakfast so far, so she wanted to participate on this delicacy too.
All process of feeding last 50 (!) minutes. Nice program for a family of 5 members :)

The first chick is hatching.
I am so happy for this eagle, because the first egg from February is broken and she laid these 2 eggs again in April.
At the same time in Decorah.
Stand up and grab lunch.

Yesterday evening... #3 attacks #2.
Poor female eaglet 19A (#2) was lying side by side with the youngest sister #3, as soon as 19A took up, she was attacked. No food, no feeding, no parents... The youngest eaglet #3 has built up some strange reactions... to attack the middle eaglet in any situation. All chat community is excited by determination and "survival skills" of #3, but I dont remember other nest where one eaglet would terrorize its sibling in this age. Question for science. Why is this?
Today morning: 51A (#1) jumping, wingersizing

Lubaska!
Yes, #3 behaviour is a bit strange but not abnormal. Last year in an osprey nest in Australia the older sibling attacked the younger sibling until he/she fledged. At last he/ she pushed the younger one out from the nest. People rescued this chick and took it out from the nest.
Nice gif from wingexercising.
