Hi Mutikluti, it is great we can meet again, here, in our new forum.

It "feels" just like last summer!

Hi to all Storkaholics, I is nice to communicate through this forum! But I have to admit that pictures of ravens and eagels is not the same as black storks. Ravens are just a rough and noisy
bunch, but I guess they have to do for the winter time. I hope the spring will come soon and we can enjoy the elegant black storks again! I wish to see a new and latest map showing the wintering locations of the storks with transmitters.

Nice pictures, Mutikluti! The eagle must be real hungry - to come down to the ground and look for scraps!!!

Tere Vaino!
Known wintering locations of storks are not remarkable different as visible on last public map (Storks Travel diary - http://www.looduskalender.ee/en/node/1686).
Therefore not updated.
But for "backpacks" from the Nov of 20th began winter season and that means less data transmissions (up to Feb of 20th). Now we get data from almost transmitters after every 10 days and GPS inside backpack takes max 3 locations per day. For older transmitters (Raivo, Priidu) winter begins later, from the beginning of Dec and will last up to end of Feb and these transmitters transmit after every two weeks during winter season.
After first winter transmission of all viable tags we update migration map.

Thanks for claryifying the species! I thought that buzzards exist only in Florida.
And thank you, Urmas, for information about the future maps of black storks !

I SAW the 'lovely winter landscape ' today. I say hello to 'old' friends coming on-line. Great. :gathering: 8-)
The news of the Tit is good. Got advice from neighbour (bird protection soc.) give Millet and other small grains . And ,news to me the Robin is the only carniverous bird that does not migrate.
He should also have small grains ,as sunflower seed will break his beak ..!! Give porridge oats too. We put out weetabix as well
for good measure. Apparently a lot of these birds have malformations.
Some manage ....nature decides.
So ,life is hard on all species..Only the strongest survive.
His advice.........let well alone and continue to put the food out.
Snow melted for now but its bitterly cold.
goodnight to all....... (Martin your avatar is FIERCE.. :faint: .)
Carmel a member of SHOW .. I hope you love birds too. Its economical. It saves going to heaven.
