Another interesting day!
Today here were at least 15 WTEs based on ages and rings but most probably there were up to 20 different birds. Suprising was adult Golden Eagle, probably male bird. Few years ago we released there cured female adult (ringed in North-East EST) who breeds probably on the closest bogs 10-20 km away. Today´s Golden Eagle might be the male from the same pair but who knows. Two pairs are breeding up to 20 km from the feeding place, next ones are already 40-50 km. Adult Golden Eagles are residents and hold their territory whole winter and suprisingly they visit us very occasionally.

Today here were 4 ringed WTEs:
B279 - FIN 2009
Z848 - FIN 2005, new info that this bird was here also last winter 13.01.2011 :)
Y445 - new bird! EST born 2005 45 km from the feeding place
V331 - new bird! FIN 2007

This winter here is about 25% birds with rings which is less than expected based on total numbers of WTEs and proportion of ringed WTEs in EST and FIN. But WTEs without rings look more pretty :)

Tomorrow early morning I will put there new food and good luck for next interesting eagle days!

Wow, what a day! I have had a :peek: a few times during the day, but had not so much time. I tried a new add on for screenshots,
at work, it's a bit faster than the one I have right now :puzzled: but ...

And a Golden Eagle! Wow! Only yesterday I saw something on a DVD which also had a chapter on them and I was thinking if there are Golden Eagles breeding in Estonia! Got my answer very fast! :shake: Maybe the eagle came today for my being one year in the forum?

Do you remember Joosep (Tuvi) telling, when he was ringing Spot, that golden eagle chicks were truly fierce and difficult to handle?

I think "the table" is empty very soon. The meat is not icy, and the weather is mild.
