So the little one arrived only about half an hour after I logged off! :slap: I knew I saw the hole getting a bit bigger & a crack in the shell. But all is well & Mētra is feeding the chick from the stores she set aside. What a wonderful bunch of photos & videos everyone shared here. Thank you, it helps me & others see the happy event that happened here.

 Someone is unhappy with having LSE family as neighbors. What bird is calling such an alarm? I hope we do not have another McNasty here!

It has turned windy & rainy, so Mētra must keep the chick warm & dry.

 I must log off now. We will be leaving for a vaction trip in a couple of days-- to Wisconsin to visit my hubby's family. Big family reunion party with all his many, many relatives (descended from a German man & his 4 sons who immigrated to USA in the early 20th century). So I have to try to get my sleep schedule rearranged to more "normal" hours. I will be logged on less the next couple of days, then not at all for about a week from Wednesday on. There is no internet access at the country home where I will be. But I will peek in here at the forums for a day or two, yet, before our trip. For now, Goodnight / Good day! Enjoy all the cams & exciting events. :offtobed:

What a weather it has been today, poor Metra :slap: But her little chick has been safe and dry, covered by mum:) Thank you for all your great pictures

17:40 - a very windy meal, I was a bit nervous that the tiny chick would blow out of the nest..
Image
20:27 - Metra had just left the nest, and the chick was home alone:

20:28 - Yaaawn...bad weather makes little chicks tired..

20:47 - The chick is safely covered under mum :2thumbsup:

I heard the calling and then saw the little one alone.

And now that Metra is back, she is decorating the chick with greenery. He is not impressed. edit: Maybe I lied, but chick was giving his mom a bit of the eagle eye look.
