Thank you , Fleur for the welcome to this forum. I have been watching the nests of Stephi and Miks since they were just eggs but have never joined to post. After the tragedy of the Stephi nest I decided to join this forum.
My name is Marian and I live in the state of Georgia in the USA. I am in the Blue Ridge mountains where wildlife is abundant. Eagles are my favorite and just love watching these nests and will enjoy chatting with the interesting people on this forum.

Its thunder and raining in Latvia. Miks did not reach his nest. He was to far away. So did NOT mETRA.
In the stormy weather I can hear ravens.
A light wind swept over the corn, and all nature laughed in the sunshine.

The whole day Miks was in his tree or around it. I thougt they would now further away and fly high with the parents, but it is not.
Metra looked very old and terrible. Should she be ill? :puzzled:

I think Metra is tired now, and I also think she is wet on some of the pictures. I don't think she is sick. I remember I thought Tuuli, in the Estonian nest, looked almost the same last year

Edit:
I think the nest stayed empty this evening.

So, he is 71-72 days old? When will he be going to south? It could happen everyday now, couldn't it?

First, he will learn to hunt :faint: After that, he will fly to Africa, this will happen around the beginning of September.

Oh, ok. I was just asking, because last year Tormi went away at 60 day and never came back. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?p=PL201225F27455C79E

And how will we know that Miks knows how to hunt? :book:

We won't, unless he shows up on a cam in a year or two

I had sort of forgotten how immediately Tormi disappeared. It is nice that Miks seems to have given us a little more assurance that he is on his way before disappearing completely. These eagles are my favourites but I wish they would hang out at the nest a few weeks after fledging.
