What happened to the egg? Is it broken by the stump in the middle of the nest?

Good morning to all.
I'm sorry. Bad news. It seems that the female left the nest tonight. The egg is under the straw, but it must be dead  .

:hi:

On first light, about 5 am, I saw that the nest was left, no visible egg.

Later I saw 1 and 2 birds, Don't know who was who. Both were very stressed.

Around 09:40 there were some flights of both to defend the territory.

I assume that the situation will be more clear during the day. :puzzled:

From chat:
4:05: an owl was in the nest.
5:05: the female arrives but she doesn't incubate the egg.
5:56 - 6:10: the egg is visible.
Later, Teo arrives with straw and covers the egg.

I think the female is young, scary and inexperienced. The season can be complicated. We have to be optimistic and hope that today she has learned the lesson.

Gavril :hi: , the egg was visible early in the morning, I read in chat that Teo brought a big bunch of hay later and covered the egg. The egg is now hidden in the nest bowl and since the morning the ospreys have not paid any attention to it anymore, such a sad story with this first egg

That's sad...Perhaps the egg was "empty" and the birds knew it.

I went a little backwards. 17: 21. Teo has brought greater branch. The wind has created difficulties when landing...Immediately in nest of landed Tija. Then they together put this thread. 17: 28. Mating after close collaboration...then Teo brought the stick again.

:hi:

I watched most of the morning; since early it was covered with hay,

After 9 they were very stressed, someone was in the sky.

At 09:42, she wasn't on nest, he was there alone, digging very deep. I saw the egg, it wasn't broken.
After he found it, he covered it again very fast, with much hay.

Than there were matings and a nice fish that she grabbed, and flew with.

21:14 Teo comes with an headless fish, the young lady comes from the cam too. But one minute later Teo left with his fish.
It is very windy at this time.

21:18 Tija is still alone on the nest, she is chirping a bit...

Good evening.
A question. :puzzled: How long is between a successful mating and the laying of eggs?

So sorry to read that the egg is buried.
It is still early so I’m sure that they will have more eggs!
