this is really an interesting behaviorame wrote:.....
it had some take-away food in its crop and it regurgitated some of it on the nest on the left side. then it went to the balcony and wiped its beak. then it returned down and ate the food in smaller pieces. then it went up again, only to return again, this time on the right side of the nest. there it regurgitated some more food. i think this was another piece because it looked dark while the first piece was light. then it wiped its beak again and then ate the second food also in smaller pieces. that was rather interesting behaviour.

The visitor is a beautiful eagle.
Unbelievable that it is only a year old? it has white tail feathers

no Liz, i think it was 3 years old, hatched and ringed in 2012. in 2011 eaglets still got two-coloured year rings, red over black.
i think i remembered wrong first but now i checked.
for some reason it seems impossible to post a picture of the ring codes here now...
i'll have to try again tomorrow.
edit ("tomorrow"): there was something wrong with the Bucket last night. nothing happened there.
here's the picture with the colour codes:

we have no information about the camera. only that the Pontu pictures have been come in till 17:59, quite in normal fashion.
good night!

it doesn't seem to be raining now and the wind is only moderate, not stormy at all.
i have checked the Pontu pictures from yesterday. besides the raven and the Latvian eagle there were no other visitors on the nest yesterday.

Good morning!
About yesterdays visitor - I am 90% sure that the ring code was K019. Still, with 90% it is not enough (we miss one good minute picture).. What I can say for sure - this bird has hatched in year 2012 in Kurzeme (W part of Latvia).
I noticed that my message about the artificial spruce twig has been translated here:) I am looking for some twigs, made of plastic or similar artificial material that look like twigs of Picea abies, our native spruce species (the one that can be seen in the webcam). 10-20 cm would be enough. If you have some, I would really appreciate to get it by post to the LFN's office..

thank you Janis!
i was almost ...hmmm... let's say 85 % sure it was K011.
unfortunately the weather was so bad and the Pontu camera didn't happen to click on a more suitable instant. - i'll change the titles of my pictures and videos accordingly to K01x.
edit: i made a superslow-motion video (one 8th of normal speed) of the one step during which the ring can be seen best, with more zoom in.
i aslo took pictures of the video and made a gif. i think Janis is right: the last number is not 1, that's for sure. without the 0 on the upper row one could also guess that it's a 0 on the lower row. with the comparison one can see that it's more like to be 9 (or 8?).
here the two best frames are shown for 1.5 s, and the others for 0.5 s. the pictures are 150 % of the original.
i made one more edited gif with more 'high-lighted' frames.

which is difficult to detect 0 - 8- 9
either they come with muddy feet, or the weather is so bad that you can not see well
I think I see 19 in your GIF EDIT 3 :pretty sure

what a boring day as what comes to birds. i heard a black woodpecker call on one occasion in the afternoon and a while ago i heard some raven's calls. otherwise nothing.
the weather, on the other hand, has been varied: a lot of wind but also some calm moments, hard continuous rain, rain showers and drizzle and even some sunny spells. sleet or snow were absent, at least i have noticed none.
now it is getting dark.
November...
