Looking for the weather forecast - only in the end of week could appear a possibility to go...
In cloudy days the cam could not turn on at alll... I'm sorry...

We all have sympathy with Urmas - he wants the webcam to be working, just as we do!

Finally, at 18.26, Bleggi found some sunshine!
Yes, the sun is shining a bit - that is good for the battery power :D

No change in nesting behaviour, and no change in webcam behaviour!
Discussion of viewing difficulties. Macdoum is haunted by cuckoos - as are we all. Whichever nest we view - there is that cuckoo, shouting at us all the time.

Hatch time comes closer. If incubation time is counted from the time the fourth egg was laid (April 24) then we must be a little more alert now.

About the webcam problems and image quality -
Urmas -

Very good news, thanks!
I took today power system from LSE cam and will drive tomorrow to western Estonia. Together with Renno we plan to replace batteries and power system nearly at evening.
Fuzzy image is caused by self-changed focus and think also because of long off time in humid and cool environment (some condence on camera after rainy night).
The focus we can't change now. That needs to go to the cam and to turn lens manually....

At 13.42 Felis silvestris thought he/she saw a fourth chick but can't be certain - it is not a clear view from the webcam.

Venegor's video makes it clear - there are FOUR Black Stork chicks now.
:bounce: Mother has helped the fourth baby bird to get out of a shell

There were some mistaken posts about the fourth chick being eaten by an adult bird. Four chicks remain in the nest :loveshower:

Discussion of feeding behaviour -

Visitor - The adult in the nest was standing up for a short time after half past two and after three o'clock. Not sure what was going on after half past two, maybe the parent was trying to feed the chicks. Was anyone watching or recording at this time? When I started to watch, the adult was picking up some "things" from the nest and swallowing them, many times (I mean, there were many pieces). I thought that maybe it was something regurgitated and too big for the chicks to eat, but then, maybe I am totally wrong.

I also saw the adult swallowing something quite big and white (don't even want to say what I was thinking at this moment, thank God I was wrong). Could it be it was an eggshell? Do storks eat them? I have never seen it.

Felis silvestris - What I have seen now in the last few days since the chicks hatched is, that the parent stork regurgitates fishes, frogs or whatever he cought for the chicks, lets them eat and when they are finished, he/she will eat whatever is left again. Like that also yesterday for a short time, the idea that the parent ate one of the storklets came up, because it must have been a bigger silver colored fish.

Juta - Hello Visitor!
There is a answer in LK last article:

http://www.looduskalender.ee/en/
...the adult lifts the eggshell that disturbs the chicks to the nest rim; things can't be just thrown out, it might be a sign for predators that easy prey is available

SO,first on the edge and then eat it! By the way i saw that big white thing earlier too and thought the same bad thought as you. Fortunately wrong!
