I love Sunflowers, beautiful picture Alice..alice44 wrote:This little guy is only about 2 feet tall. It is growing in a crack in the street along side the curb, in an area with lots of deer (they seem to enjoy nibbling on sunflower stalks). It seems to be doing so well despite all those odds.

thank you
I have taken some more pictures of sunflowers -- the bees love them. I love them especially when they grow where the growing is tough.

Today I went back to Finley Wildlife Refuge.
When I got there my car said it was 80f so 26.6C -- nice and toasty
There are elements of fall, but since the rains have not yet begun I think I can call it summer
Rose Hips by alice_knitter, on Flickr
This was taken at almost the same place as the rose hips. For a while I watched a Northern Harrier hunt, flying right along the edge of that corn - maize - field, just barely above the height of the corn.

Wonderful photos, Alice. I absolutely loved the one of the grass-- may I copy it for my desktop? And the rabbit photos are just adorable. I've not heard of "brush rabbit" before, but it looks like a variation on our cottontail rabbit. I'll look it up.
