What a terrific day Birgit and her birder friends spent yesterday at Fuente de Piedra! There are wintering and resting numerous Marsh Harriers, which made them to be beside themselves with joy to be able to watch there impressive flights. Both sexes and birds in every age were present.
Further unusual Highlights were the „Meloncillo“ and a secret Spotted Crake which coquettish shared for a few moments its live with Birgit and her friends:
Please find the complete photo report here:

Yesterday Birgit had been at the Guadalhorce, where the Birds world is beside itself. All have one “one” thing in mind. For example this nice Little Ringed Plover couple where we looked directly into their sleeping room:

Since December of last year nearly every day is a Common Buzzard present in Birgits garden. She is enthralled, but less the mice and some ailing Collared Dove

Three wonderful day at the Salines of Bonanza and the Marsh areas of the Guadalquivir are behind Birgit. The thermometer reached 38.5°C and under normal circumstances Birgit would have fainted. But amongst the whole flock of birds nothing was normal and on the other hand most of the photos made from the car with running airconditioner!
Please find here the first report showing the courtship of the Yellow Wagtail …

Thank you for the latest edition of Birgits photographs.
How lovely the Squacco Heron looks is his wedding gear compared to the winter coat.
Such a pity the bikers disturbed the sequence of photos. Newt time maybe....
What we saw was impressive anyway.
