i don't know... last year i forced myself to be optimistic about L&S till late April but this year... i think it is way too late for a nesting here. i have a feeling that WTEs around these latitudes should lay their eggs by about Vernal Equinox plus/minus a week or 10 days. halfway April is too late. it seems that they were ready here at about March 10th to lay eggs. if since then the only time that some eagle has been seen here is a single adult on the day before yesterday then i think it is not a good sign...
the eagle on the nest in Felis' video looked so lonely and was clearly waiting... but in vain... i'm afraid that it has lost its spouse. last spring when L&S left their camera-nest they left at the same time. neither was seen later, which makes me think that they were together somewhere else. this eagle was alone.
Yes, it was quite frustrating last year…

But after all we head the pleasure to meet Miss Maisy and to learn something new about WtE behaviour.
Your estimation concerning the nesting is right, I suppose. And the nesting material appears unchanged. Nevertheless it was an unexpected pleasure to see Felis´video, and as last year I´m not ready to give up hope… These birds are so interesting, and it would be such a joy to see another breeding season… Think I still keep my fingers crossed (for a while).
If the eagles don´t return again – well, who knows, maybe there will be another surprise like the venturesome mallard or the buzzards! (Even though I would always prefer White-tailed Eagles…
