Here is the video. Tiit? Tiina? Gets up very often just for a moment, I saw it again one minute ago.

This is Tiina but why she moves and constantly changes her position? I don't remember what was last year at the time, because the cam was mainly off.

I´m still not able to distinguish between the male and the female BS . The bird changed the position not constantly, but it rose several times, checked/rolled the eggs and layed down again. It stood in the nest always for a very short time. Maybe Tiina/Tiit can hear the voices of the young in the eggs?asteria wrote:This is Tiina but why she moves and constantly changes her position? Now I know what is that white thing. It's a piece of birch cortex.

Maertha To see the difference between Tiit and Tiina I look at their beaks. Tiit has a darker field in the middle of his beak than Tiina. Other may have other marks.maertha wrote: I´m still not able to distinguish between the male and the female BS . 34

Thanks, Lussi! Interesting, I have never noticed that. Does this mark work for you also if you see only one bird in the nest?Lussi05 wrote: Maertha To see the difference between Tiit and Tiina I look at their beaks. 20:05 Egg check again, only for a few seconds.

Hello maertha
you can fix the difference to two details.
Me, I'm looking mainly at the eyes:
The red ring around the eyes of Tiit seems smaller and is closed towards the beak.
The red ring around the eyes of Tiina is bigger and open towards the beak.
Tiit to the left side and to the right side
Tiina to the left side and to the right side
(Captured just three days ago by Olga)
Here you can see also very well the difference between the colour of the beaks.

Thanks for your effort, baska, thanks also to Olga and again to Lussi. I have to rummage in my images and to compare those marks.

Tiina's legs are more red and Tiit's are a bit darker. So this is Tiina.

Thank you, asteria. As yet I was only able to say who is who when I saw a mating scene . Maybe I´ll learn to distinguish between them during this breeding season by using more subtle hints.

22:17 Another check, one minute later the next one. The latter was not visible for pontu.
http://pontu.eenet.ee/kurg/2012-05-18/2 ... -22-17.jpg
22:17/22:18
22:45 It´s pitch-dark now, and so far no chicks. The eggs were visible at last at 22:18.
Edit: Again visible, more or less, again at 22:50
Is there a tiny something at one egg or do I see ghosts meanwhile?

Perhaps one or two eggs are "talking".
Check pontu pics from 5 or 6 o'clock tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, the day after after tomorrow etc.
