Re: ESTLAT Osprey Nest Webcam Discussion 2012
Piret backs away from the extra large fish, Madis brought. She was in shock I think. As so many times before, this fish also was very much alive.

More downy feathers appear, maybe Piret is loosing them.

I am told that female Osprey molt when incubating their eggs as it is the time when they are less active and that explains the feathers.
So glad Madis is looking after his lady, and that last fish was a whopper, What a bird and so handsome.

And another fish for Piret, she flies away with it, after some tugging at it. Madis brings them, but doesn't want to give them away too easy, it seems

Now where are those gunshots coming from..?.... 22:32
I saw Piret turn her head sharply...grr...
I have a few cams open so I cannot say where exactly.
( Gunshots were even heard at the Falconcam in Rochester USA.. so suppose it came from there. )

Seems to have been a very good day on the nest. Some of the photos are truly stunning and definitly the best I've seen, Have been Osprey watching for 4yrs and only recently found this site. I love watching because its so clear, also the nest seems much softer than a week ago and because Madis and Piret get along so well.
Do we know when the first hatching is due. Many thanks to all who post pics etc and keep us updated with fish numbers. Am now going up the wooden hill, goodnight all.

Piret does not really want to wake up this morning.

Piret returns and lands on the camera support above, Madis stays on the eggs for the time being.

Millie, there are several sites with different data. If you count between 36 and 42 days since the 13th of May, I think you make the best chance to see the 1st hatch.Millie wrote:Seems to have been a very good day on the nest. But maybe we have to count from the 1st egg at May 7? I am not really sure. Sorry, does not help you much I'm afraid.

9.50 opened, Madis in nest. He was waiting for Piret, sometimes unpatiently and tried to keep spirit up with biting bark into small pieces
10.47 Piret finally arrived, with out "talking" Madis left

Madis came to the nest bringing a very large branch
Too bad the line is across the picture, but I had to be quick.
