Thank you Jopie for explaining that. A chick hatching on my birthday would be the icing on the cake as they say. So here's hoping that all goes well with these two beautiful birds. And hopefully when there is a hatching we should have an amazing view of it.

It is raining this morning. Raindrops on the feathers and also drippling noises at the camera-microphon.
I don't know, is it Madis or Piret in the nest (without seeing the ringed leg)?

6:34 (from the Pontu archive) - so I think in Gaby's picture, at 6:59, it is still Madis

Could it be, in order to carry such a fish over a distance, especially the large ones, that sometimes they use their nails to hold the fish tight? So the other one must pull it loose?

Piret was circling around the nest a few times, then arrived at the nest. They talk a little and Madis flies off.

So pleased that Madis continues to look after Piret. Osprey have specil talons as you say for carrying fish. There is a Welsh website which is very informative and gives a really good insight into the lives of Ospreys. It is called the "Dyfi Osprey Project" If you google that you should find it. I have learned a lot from this site. Their resident Osprey are called Monty and Nora.

Jopie sometimes the osprey grips the fish so tight its difficult to let it go,especially if its a big fish.

Video from DYFI osprey project I posted a few days ago here already.

Some minutes ago, Madis came to the nest and for a short time they worked very hard, to make the nest even better.
A very large branch had to be in a different place:

And a beautiful co-operation:

Jopie, Stunning pictures of Madis and Pire working together with the sun setting, just beautiful. I love watching these birds and they can be so amusing sometimes, also there is a lot of expression on their faces. Cant wait for little ones.

was away for some hours and when I returned

14.27 Madis was on the eggs, looking around

14.38 Piret arrived, but Madis didn´t went up and away immeadeately, first when Piret clearly did give signal that she wanted to cover eggs he finally raised and slowly went to nestrim before he left

and now I´ll be off again

18:45 Piret is sitting on the nest. Poor dear, she's tired again...her head drops forward, her eyes close and  ooops, awake again. It must be a boring job for any bird to sit for weeks on end,not doing much exept keeping the ggs at the right temperatures.
