Koit is afraid for the jay and don´t visit Eha with food nearly at all. I am sad for her. All along protecting the egg.

This is funny: the wind almost blew the feather away from the nest, but she caught it and put closer.

Do you think the Jays prevent Koit from delivering food to Eha? It's not often to see Koit in the nest, but the same goes for Macho in the Latvian LSE nest so I thought maybe it's the way they behave..and that Remo is an exception..
( the Buzzards are also bothered by the Jays, but they seems to handle it..someone who knows about these things?)
- Has anyone seen Koit today?

Hardly it were jays to prevent Koit from delivering food to Eha, most probable is that it is poor mice year and he has problems with catching them.

It is my thought. For me it was a proofs of it when Koit delivered food behind the tree twice.

I didn`t see Koit today yet, but can`t watch cams constantly ...

And about the jays .... meanwhile I think that it is not their intent to destroy the egg .... they only want to be the LSEs AWAY

If it was their intent to destroy the egg they´ve had several chances to do that .... Eha is out of the nest about three or four times a day, sometimes for some minutes. I am sure that they see her leaving, as well as they see her coming back every time (when they make their wave about her).

But - I don´t know what will be when the chick is there .... :puzzled:

Food delivery at 16:03

It was a big prey, but can´t identify it .... it was too big for Eha to swallow it whole, she had to rip it.

Eha showed us her backside all the time, so I couldn´t see what kind of prey *sigh*

May 28

Looks like Koit tries to take care of the pests now

Came and delivered something (could not see) to eat for Eha, Eha talked for a long time with him and finally left for a while, Koit settled on the egg, keeping a careful look around, Eha came back with a small twig, both stood for a while and looked up, then Koit left, but was back quite fast with a green twig, looking up (and my, if I was a Jay and an Eagle looked at me like that :faint: ) ... he kept on standing quite some time while Eha kept on talking.
When my PB upload of Pontu pictures is finished, I'll load some of the screenshots I made.

Felis, thank you for your pictures from the activity in the nest earlier today
Koit really has THE LOOK, it is a great picture of him:)
Except from a Jays attack, the evening seemed calm for Eha when I have visited.

13:07 - Poor Eha, both a feather that had become stuck, and an attack from the Jays at once.. :slap:
- I was afraid she would step on the egg while she struggled to get the feather off..
Image
- the feather came of, only the Jay left:
Image
- Fortunately the attack did not last long.
