I´ll add that
20.48 Madis again brought fish to nest http://pontu.eenet.ee/kalakotkas/2012-0 ... -20-48.jpg and Piret began feeding. Madis flew quickly again. This fish was big enough then all 3 chicks in the end turned away, satisfied and a bit more than just a small piece of tail was left for Piret as with the previous fish.

NancyM wrote: Osprey cannot digest the fish bones or scales, so they are stored in the crop, molded into a pellet, and cast. I have never seen one actually do this, either, jopie. I was watching Piret make what I call "chicken neck dance" movements yesterday - she would be moving food form her crop to her stomach.

These photos are by Mark B. Bartosik - I think Felis or maertha gave the link to his photo gallery earlier

Thanks Nancy, and I thought Piret had a fishbone stuck in her throat, and a few minutes later 1 of the chicks did almost the same.

 good morning all

thanks for early mornig news

Have watched on and off since 9.30 and not much had happened. Chicks have been sleeping, have just changed position from time to time and Piret upstairs all the time.
Chick 2 was awake for some time few minuts ago. And now I hear one or two of them, perhaps they want some food soon

Do wish everyone a nice day at the cam.

13.10 (about)

Feeding of a large fish: number 2 first, second number 3.
Meanwhile number 1 is trying to take bites from the tail.
Piret doesn't like it and pulls the fish away.

Image

But I think number 1 succeeded in biting a little piece of the fish (not the tail)
