Number 2 leaning on number ones back, who is becoming beautiful black stripes (feathers) in the whole length of its back.



Edit: looking again, I think a wing of number 3 is between the other 2 chicks. Correction It is the wing of number 1. All those wings and "golden" feathers are confusing.....

Have today not been lucky to see much more than the most important – 3 chicks in nest

Life in nest seems to have changed very much over the last days.
Piret prefers more and more to be upstairs instead of in nest. So not much a parent is present in nest now. The chicks get a larger amount of fish at each feeding, so my impression is that the amount of feedings during the day also has decreased.
Really impressive so fast these chicks grows.
But having in mind that they have to be full grown for migration just in few months it´s no wonder although quite not to understand

21.13 I was lucky to see Piret in nest for about a minut - she is still upstairs

Large fish, a very jumpy one, last feeding of the day?

22:34 Madis arrives ..... then Piret jumps down from the cam. She inspects his feet to see if he brought anything. Madis soon flies off, and Piret drags a huge fish from the nest bowl. (I think it was already there and Madis did not bring anything this time )

EDIT: Well, maybe he did bring it ... I am not sure- the pictures are blurry because the light is fading. At any rate, there is a big fish being fed to the chicks - good thing their crops are very elastic.

No Nancy it was very much alive, almost escaped from Piret's talon.

I percieved it as Madis did bring this large, dark fish to nest at 22.34

22:34:39 Madis arrives - I didn´t see him bend, and he was at the nestrim all the time he was in nest

Pontu archives reveal that up until 4:17, the chicks were alone on the nest.


4:17 Madis arrived, and Piret came down from the cam support. (from Pontu)


4:24 Piret feeds the chicks.


4:26 Did Madis bring two fish? This one has more to it (a head) than the one that Piret was feeding just now.


4:30 Feeding going on (Uno is eating now, the others look full)

Madis took the head off the fish while the chicks watched. Here, you can see it looks lighter underneath than on top.

Madis climbs on a branch and feeds #2 and of course Nori.

5:37 Madis is only pretend feeding - teeny tiny bites, and then no bite at all. The chicks turn away so Madis eats big bites himself. Then he offers a big long stringy thing to Nori, who wisely does not take it eeeewwww.... (Madis eats it).
