Yes  I was not the lucky one who caught him, though. It was my friend Bellatrix who also watches camera but is not registered on this forum.

absolutely wonderful to see a woodpecker here!
thanks for pics!
about woodpeckers- we have a nature show on Estonian TV, called "Osoon"-O3,
there was about WP, that by making holes in trees they prepare nests for small birds,
but on the other hand they also eat small birds eggs and even chicks.
so if you have built a bird house and want to protect the little ones- then you may cover the surrounding of the nest hole with tin or rubber.
in that case the woodpecker can`t make the hole bigger and can`t reach the eggs or chicks.
not that i have anything against woodpeckers (but i know someone who has  ),simply they should
keep worms, insects and seeds on their menu

I really like the woodpecker!!!
Thanks for his picture.

What kind of woodpecker is it?
I would say a Great Spotted Woodpecker, it's the only one we have.
But when I look in my book it could be a Middle Spotted Woodpecker, because of the more pink color instead of red.

I think it could be either, the color might be just due to monitor setting or the light conditions. Whichever is more common woodpecker in Estonia is my bet
