Will Lenny be returned to the nest? And if yes, will Tommy and Kelly recognize him? He must also do flying escercises now too.

I don't think that Lenny will return to the nest, as it would be dangerous for the other two storklets if someone climbs up to the nest. They are too old now to be disturbed and they would try to fly away.

I suppose that Lenny is in a big aviary with contact to the nature. So he can do his exercises to fly. When time has come and he recovered he will be released and find his own way. I know this method from our blessed white storks in Germany. Hope he'll recover with the good help of Dr. Madis.

Have a nice Sunday everyone!

Four years ago Urmas climbed up to the nest to give Mid a transmitter when she was 61 days old, but now the problem is that Lenny has been away too long and may be considered by others as an intruder.

I totally agree with you, Andrea. And we should show more patience and respect for nature in Lenny's case. At first, his beak has to heal, otherwise he will not stay alive living on his own. And after that comes the time to think about how he will return to wildlife. There would be no good in hurrying only because we think he must learn to fly right now.

And for those from German speaking countries: have a look at those stations where hurt birds are medicated in Germany and in Austria. They have big aviarys where the birds are kept during their rehabilitation. I think Dr. Madis will start something like this with a clinic as well:

15:07 - Rain here also today. Tommy and Kelly are moving around the nest, picking for something to eat? A sound was heard from the forest, and getting their attention. I think it was Jays..

I don't think that it would be a good idea to take Lenny back to the nest. He has no chance to survive the fly to the south get there enough food and fly back to estland.

Schorsch viewtopic.php?p=149421#p149421 went only from germany to spain and lived there at garbage dumps with plenty of food. And he was an expert in flying between this countries.
