Re: Estonian LSE Nest Discussion 2012 ~ Tuuli & Remo
i've got a video but it starts when Stephi has already got the mole under her breast. but i think that by now you've seen the mole too (or what ever but it's big and black!)
(the beginnings are always missing in my clips if i haven't started recording before anything is is really happening... i'm so slow and it takes a second or two before VLC gets started)

I guess the mole can be used as pillow too.
And another yawn.
A good day for Stephi so far. She seems to be content, no rain (yet) and the "bad" breathing sounds have been very weak so far.

I really think Remo had it in his beak, because I did look at the talons and I thought they were empty. Maybe it is just that Stephi did not really try to work on it. She'd eaten recently and knows Moles are just too much work without help.
The wind seems very fierce, but it does not seem to bother a small eagle -- at least not on the nest.
Have a good day

Stephi's sleeping...
i don't think i've heard any unnecessary breathing sounds today. maybe she's over it.

a frog for lunch at 12.39 by Remo (i think)
picasion.com
after Stephi had swallowed the frog as a whole again she went to have a look at the mole, too, but did not make a serious attempt on it after all. now she's standing by it... and her breathing began to gnoart and whistle again...

at 13.59 Stephi woke up and gave the mole a try. she tried to tear it and chirped to get some help...
... but the skin is too tough. finally after about 20 minutes she gave up and lay down again, this time with her tail on the mole.

14.32 food delivery by Remo (i think)
it's a big frog.
this one Stephi has to cut..... at least most of it. the rest (the hindlegs) went down in one piece.

someone's got a full crop now...
then for a while Stephi seemed not to know what to do next, so she preened a little...
... and finally lay down.
is it me imagining things or has the Bucket been awfully slow lately..?

It's such a different between behaviour of the parents of the 3 LSE-nests. Stephi stay so much time home alone. But it's nice to see she's such a little big girl and is eating by herself...

15.54 Stephi woke up, got up, did a little wing exercise, backed to the back rim and pooped overboard. then she did a little more wing practise and started preening herself.
it has been a great relief not to hear much any of that wheezing and groaning breathing noise.

16.32: i suppose this must be Tuuli who brought food this time.
she refused to give the prey to Stephi but insested on cutting it for her.
after feeding Stephi dove under mummy's tummy and rested there for a while.

Yes, it was Tuuli which brought the first prey - and there was a lot of discussion WHO should have it

Then Tuuli did some nestwork and Stephi other necessary things
