I've witnessed something similar when watching a nest of 3 barn owlets, where the youngest was pushed about by his older siblings (without pecking btw), so he was hungry all the time while the other 2 were well-fed. After a couple of days he developed new tactics to get his share of the food... by lowering his head to the ground as if he was a vacuumcleaner, and then trying to sneak up from behind, get his head under the wings of his siblings who were eating, steal their prey, and then swallow it very fast before the sibling had time to react. (Is the owlet in my avatar btw)

:hi:
For some years I was so lucky nearby my home to have the opportunity/luck to observe a WTE pair raising their youngs. During these years they 2 years in a row raised 3 chicks. And it was clear that these number 3 chicks each developed their own stategy how to get their share of the food. E.g. as very young one of them stood between the legs of the parent, very well protected, but then being too big for that he also had to find another method which turned out well.

That's interesting, because I've seen the same behaviour (youngest chick between the legs of the female who was feeding the other 2, and every now and then the female would give that chick some bites too) twice in this nest of American ospreys. http://www.livestream.com/hellgateospre ... um=related

Hello

I look at the osprey webcam for so many weeks and I’m fascinated every day. I just have read half of this thread. And now I have registered because I have a question.

I have read there: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=17

"All images from the Looduskalender webcams are free to use, providing they are not used for commercial or business profit. You may put your screenshot or video on a commercial photo-hosting website, such as Photobucket, ImageShack, Flickr, Pic-Upload, etc. If you post an image or video to websites or forums other than this one, you must include a link to the original Looduskalender webpage or camera from which the image was taken."

And now my question. I wonder if it is allowed to take various images and videos and create a new video? I make videos for some time (just as a hobby). Most from a TV series and also a lot of vids for friends from her cats) - like this one: https://vimeo.com/37481703

But this osprey animated me very well to make a video.

It's enough if I SPECIFIED the page to: looduskalender.ee?

Or what should I do to make and show a vid of these wonderful animals?

I’m german. Hope I use the right words.

Hello. Sorry, because of my poor English I´m not sure if I understood you question. First I thought you want to take the pictures and videos which were collected by the forum members and use the docu-material for your private purposes!

But that would be pretty hard to imagine, so I´m quite sure I misinterpreted your message. Probably you wanted to know how you can take your own picutres and videos like those you have seen here. For this I recommend VLC Player. Think as a hobby-filmer you will know it. If not, please google the term. For technical instructions there´s a special part in this forum. You can post also all kind of technical questions there. Click here viewforum.php?f=3

My english is very bad - only school english I've learned many years ago but I hope anyone can understand me. :whistling:

Exactly I want to do that. I have only found the cam as a time Elo, Uno and Nori were already born. And I would like to create a video from the beginning, but I do not have enough pictures and videos and would have allowed to take which can be seen in the community.

Even as the record goes, I've read but I want to create from the videos and pictures (which already exist), a new video - as a documentary and I'm not even enough videos and pictures.

The video, which I have shown, it is the cat from a girlfriend (and my godfather cat << = is this the right word?). I have videos and pictures of her that she has been taken and which they created for a new video - the video you can see.

I always like to look on the live images in my spare time and just want to do anything wrong.
I just have the wish (desire) to create a video of this pair by the whole time - only because I like it.
Just like all my other videos I've ever created.

NancyM wrote:
maertha, thank you for reminding me that I should have answered this question! And thank you for your reply to snApe1118 about how to make such a video

another part of the question:
Quote:

I think, if you make a video of this Osprey cam, the suggestion is to credit the osprey webcam page,

"If you post an image or video to websites or forums other than this one, you must include a link to the original Looduskalender webpage or camera from which the image was taken."

You can use either this link: http://www.looduskalender.ee/en/node/13110 (English page)
or this one: http://www.looduskalender.ee/en/taxonomy/term/50 (English page)

or the camera: http://pontu.eenet.ee/player/kalakotkas.html

Thank you for giving me answers I hope I've understood correctly.

Can I use the existing videos and pictures of them to create a new video? I would put the link purely to here when it's done. It's nice to see those pictures and videos in a summary. Just a nice reminder.

And now I hope I've put everything right. English is not my first language.

16:55 - Madis and Piret arrived, Madis has a fish! He left and Piret grabs it, ready for feeding. Little NORI is the 1st lucky one

Only a few bites for NORI: ELO and UNO approached to the fish. Piret begins to feed them.

At 16:39 or so the feeding ended. No pictures from me this time as I was eating myself :D

But I observed the following:
Nori was again the first to position himself for the feeding, thus getting the first bites from Piret. Elo then moved next to Nori without being too agressive and tolerated Nori there. Piret then started to feed Elo, but every now and then she gave Nori too. Nori was still in the same place, but moved his neck and head further from Elo, only to move it fast towards Piret each time he was offered a bite, and retreat his head even faster. Elo then raised his head, a clear sign for Nori to back off. Nori retreated and Uno took his place, and got fed. When Elo and Uno were satisfied, Nori moved in again and got a few bites more, including bits of fish spoiled by the other 2 previously that session which Piret picked up and fed him.

----------------------

16:54 - Madis delivers a small fish. Nori gets a few bites again, but the other chicks want too. Nori is again very fast stretching his neck to the food, and retreating it even faster as soon as he gets something. The other 2 chicks don't seem too interested in food right now, so Nori gets his share.

17:00 - something attracts the attention of the chicks, they all look into the same direction, following with their heads (Nori also seems to have some down in his beak. His own or did he peck at someone?):

Image

Piret observes it too, but doesn't look too bothered by it, and keeps feeding Uno. Nori still looks at what's happening in the air, just as Elo does on the other side of Piret:

Image

17:12 - Uno is satisfied again, and Nori takes his place and gets food. Elo gets some bites too, but most is for Nori.

Image

17:16 - Elo snatches the tailpiece (whis wasn't too big) and swallows it. Then Elo picks up some spoiled bits from the nest, and surprisingly Nori tries to 'steal' those from Elo's beak, three times in a row, but without succes. Nori then gives Elo a very dirty look, and Elo moves away... That's interesting, Nori growing some balls again, and developing new tactics.
Unfortunately I was too slow to take a screenshot of this behaviour by Nori, but I assume others have seen it too.

18.08 - Another delivery, more fish for our chicks. Nori getting fed first, while the wind suddenly picks up and Elo tests his wings.

Image

Image

Soon Elo joins the food queue too, and Piret feeds both Nori and Elo.

Image

Nori decides to retreat before things get out of hand with Elo.

Image

Piret ate some fish while it started to rain, and the chicks huddle together, making their 'chup chup chup' sounds. Piret then moves some branches around.
