Welcome pinkisch!pinkish wrote:Hello everyone!
I'm new to this forum! I have an interesting occurrence to talk about!
I really think I saw an type specimen of Black Stork!
The strange thing is the location: about 44.8 latitude 9.2 longitude, in northern Italy.
I saw it in the first days of June. So I thought it couldn't be a migrant, because of the time..
I'm pretty sure it was a stork because its neck was straight during the fly. (further it had black wing and head, white lower breast, long legs and long beak, both red: so it couldn't be a heron)
I saw it only once: it was flying over a small river, with high rock faces and trees.
Could it be a black stork in your opinion?
Excuse my English, obviously i'm not very good at!
Why not, I think it’s possible that it was a black stork. Is there a forest in the near? In my region – south of Germany – we also have Black Storks in the woods, but we rarely see them and their nests are hidden well! You where lucky! Keep your eyes opened! :peek:
