Pygmy Owl, typical call *(song) of a male.
In the second part of record voice becomes excited. It sounds like there is dispute between two males. Very interesting record for end of summer indeed.

 Bird watchers spotted little ( pygmy ) owl on pier Holwerd

HOLWERD - Birdwatchers Mark de Vries and Ruurd Jelle van der Leij discovered Thursday at the end of the afternoon the Netherlands very rare little owl on the pier of Holwerd.

According to them, this is an exceptional place for an owl that normally occurs in coniferous and mixed forests. The species is also only five times since 2000, previously observed in the Netherlands, they say. The observation in Holwerd is the fourth in Friesland.

Once the male perception announced on the Internet, came from the Netherlands to Holwerd lovers. The owl was not seen again.

Does anyone have link to the call/sound of the Goshawk that attacks our eagle's nest? I can never catch their sound when they are nearby in the forrest.

Thank you, Fleur for that website. I am not familiar with any bird sounds since I have only been watching nests for a few months. This has so many bird sounds and I intend to become educated to them so i can identify what is in the forrest. Thanks for the ones you posted on this forum, they are very interesting.

No, this is female. Sometimes female gives calls that is similar to song of a male but male never give something that likes female's "kvik".

Here in last clip is a real male although sometimes his song sounds rather strange. So there must be a pair of Tawny owls. This owl species is most common here in Latvia.
