My name is Marlene and I live in a small market town in the Cambridgeshire Fens of England, UK.

I am retired, married for 46 years with 2 grown up children one is married and lives and works in Indonesia the second is living in the UK>

I have been following the Rutland Ospreys http://www.ospreys.org.uk/webcam/
for the year and because of the interests they got me looking further afield hence my finding you.

My husband is very very interested in natural history so your site is a great find for us both.

Keep up the excellent work. Thank you one and all.

I live in rural Quebec, Canada. I have been married for over 35 years, we never had children but we are presently "parents" to 4 cats.

Our backyard is usually busy with birds, squirrels and raccoons and I love to watch them and photograph them. I also love to watch cams around the world.

BTW, NancyM, I will be in your State next week.

Take care Everyone.

Hello, I'm Leonia, working in Munich in Bavaria in Germany and living about 25 km outside the city in a small town called Markt Schwaben. You may have a look at our whitestorks-webcam on http://www.storch-in-bayern.de and may see part of our wonderful surroundings f.e. on the fotos Felis_silvestris showed on viewtopic.php?f=30&t=375&start=100.

I started looking at the Estonian web-cams and posting already on Hancock Wildlife Channel and came here shortly after the Looduskalender-Forum started.
I'm not posting too much but reading and I'm taking part in the translations for the German site of Looduskalender, specially the weekly chronics of Kristel Vilbaste and the Potterer-tales of Tiit Kändler, the Sooma-Flood-Cams and a part of the Birders-diarys.

My special interest (besides books) are storks (black and white ones which we both have here), cranes, LSE, WTE and ospreys (we don't have here) and other raptors (sparrowhawks at my burreau f.e.). And especially in winter I share Olga's enthusiasm for squirrels (which I have at my burreau window too). My friend is my spiritus rector in ornithology and I learnt a lot from him. We like riding by bike and wandering around our town on the back of a terminal moraine with wonderful sight to the alps or in the lovely valley of the Sempt river near by. The pictures that Felis showed were shot at one of its two springs, where we had a picnic on my 60th birthday. :gathering:

Hello! I am Juta. Live in Tallinn, Estonia. Piano teacher. I am a City person, a City near the sea. It doesn´t mean I don´t like nature, animals and birds.
But I didn´t know much about birds except they were flying, singing and looked beautiful there somewhere.... Until once upon a time I was looking for webcam for my ancient computer on Internet and found instead of it Sidney Eagle Nest cam http://www.hancockwildlife.org/index.ph ... _victoria1
There it started. When Looduskalender opened Black Stork´s cam I was totally lost(as many I knew before this forum).
So, that´s why I am here.

I am 39 years old, I am not married and I have no children. I live in eastern part of Latvia. I'm biologist and I have been interested about birds for many years. My favourite bird's group are owls and I make some researches about them. Not very serious although. My first experience with webcams was watching bald eagles in Hornby Island some years ago and it was very exciting, especially reading incredible chat there.) Afterwards I got information about this page and found out that it's very well. I'm trying to improve my estonian language skills with help of this page too and there are some achievments in this hard work. Sadly my english writing skill is very bad because I have learned it through self-education, so I find it hard to express something very smart in this language

I am 46 years old, I am married, and have two adult sons and a cat.
I live in Norway, ca one hour drive west of Oslo. I have a large forest area right next door, with a rich animal and birdlife, and we often use it for our daily walks.
From middle of October to May, I feed the birds, and we have a lot of visitors through the winter.
I work in primary school, with children with special needs,
I read about the Blackstorks, Donna and Padis, in an norwegian newspaper in spring 2008. I followed the link and so I found Looduskalender. In 2009 I found this forum, and I have been here since, first as a guest.
In spring 2011 I finally dared to sign in, and I don't regret it, that's for sure:)
Although I am just an amateur I feel very comfortable here, and it's so many nice people with same interests.
( but I'm also struggling a bit with my english, so I am not good in long discussions, I am too slow)
Edit: My favourite birdcams are Lesser spotted eagles and Blackstorks. We don't have them in my country unfortunately. My favourite view is Kasmu, and I am a big fan of wonderful Squirrel Hill

Hello everybody! My name's Christiane and I am currently living in Bonn, Germany. I'll soon be moving to Munich in Bavaria though to continue my studies to become a professional translator. I am 28 years old. I've loved birds since childhood, but only discovered nest webcams earlier this year due to a German magazine posting a link to the Estonian osprey cam on their facebook profile. After reading the forum for a while, I finally decided to join earlier this month.

Ospreys are my favourites and I greatly enjoyed watching Uno, Elo and Nori grow up and will definitely be back next year. I also watch the Dyfi ospreys, the Rutland ospreys and have recently discovered the Hellgate osprey cam.

My name is Irene (the Russian spelling is Irina or Ирина). I was born in Surgut city (it's in Siberia) but moved to Saint Petersburg 5 years ago. Here I work for a company producing water treatment equipment. I adore nature, animals, birds. I like listening to music and reading books in the original to improve my English. About a year ago I started to learn playing African drums (djembe).
The osprey cam is the first web cam I watch. And I am very happy about it! Though it is getting hard to watch it as the siblings are getting very competitive about the fish their father brings and I worry about them a lot. :slap: My boyfriend sent me the link to this web cam while I was in Surgut visiting my parents. He wanted me to give it a look but he didn't realise that I would become glued to my monitor for months to come. :rotf: Now our days start and end with ospreys. I'm glad that it doesn't irritate him, he just jokes about my addiction. :D

My mum and brother watch the osprey nest, too. :)

I'm so happy I found this forum! I wish you much happiness, bird-loving people of the world!

Hello everybody

What a wonderful idea, Nancy, to create this new topic!

I am living in Germany, region Francfort/Main, in a rural area named "Odenwald".
Image click Image click

I have always been loving nature so much, so that as young girl already I wanted to become forester. But unfortunately at that time it wasn't possible in Germany to become a female forester. So I've chosen a completely other profession. I've done engineering for drinking-water supply all over the world.
Now I'm 64 and retired. My real name is Barbara.
Now I got lot of time to spend it in my beloved forest, watching animals and birds, get to know even better trees and other plants, to pick mushrooms,
to protect the nature.
I've been active member of NABU for many years (Naturschutzbund Deutschland - Nature Protection Society of Germany).
My second passion is learning languages, so that I can get in closer contact to people from other countries. I have always loved to mix with international people.
That is why I know to speak English, French (I love especially France), Spanish and since a few years I try to learn Polish by myself (it's terribly hard...)

A couple of years ago I discovered the webcams of the white storks in Germany and not much later Looduskalender with its marvellous equipments of cameras
(I prefer the Black stork camera and the Alutaguse forest camera), its wonderful, instructiv reports about the nature and - last not least - its interesting, nice people.
So, with Looduskalender I'm really happy to find the ideal place for myself: nice people from all over the world, who are interested in nature like me.
Fantastic! :loveshower:
greetings from Baska

Hello, this is the first time I follow a season of ospreys. I am amazed by these birds. It has almost 3 years that I follow eagles. I am Brazilian. I live in a state of Brazil, which is the third largest state in the country, Minas Gerais. I am advertising, but I no longer work in this area . My family has a video and film producer. I came here because I saw Nancym talking about the ospreys nest on Hornby Eagles Chat. Hello Nancym!
My name is Lucia and I'm 60 years old. I'm married, I have four kids and two grandchildren.
Congrats to all who make this wonderful site.

It is really wonderful to learn about each of you (I hope others will post here, too).

The first webcam I ever watched was the Hornby Island Bald Eagles (the island is off the coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada) ~ and I still watch that one! ( Luli) The White-tailed Eagles are very, very similar to the bald eagles (who have white heads, they are not really bald).

During the winter LK will have another webcam or two here to watch, but there is also the rest of the forum to explore, to learn and to chat about seasons, nature, and other topics.

Nancy, thank you for this forum. I like to get to know everyone. I am a 57 year old single woman with no children. I live with my father, and of coarse, that silly looking black and white domestic satin bunny you see here. He is comical. Does not know what a cage is. Has a free life here in the home. uses the litterbox, and has his own bed. yes,,,,spoiled!! I can tell whats on his mind almost.. bye looking at his face. Such is the same with birds. I was watching the Decorah, Iowa bald eagle nest and a few others. A nice friend showed me this cam and I fell in love. I am a nurse who works at night and sleeps during the day. My party days are over (thank goodness), and so my fun in life is nature and animals. I have lived a sheltered life in terms of mostly speaking to american people. which is yet another reason I like the osprey forum. There is always time to learn. The only time I've left the USA is in 1973 when I went to Edinburgh, Scotland for three months. My wish, its really a dream.... would be to visit estonia. It has always been a mystery to me. I live in massachusetts. Too close to the coast and too many people. I am a loner and would rather take a walk in the forest than to be in a middle of thousands of people. NOT FOR ME. which is why i wont visit my niece in new york. ack!!!! I find watching the cams, brings alot of peace and happiness in my life. and isn't that what its all about???? thanks to urmas and to everyone who posts pictures, video's etc... ps. was that urmas who tagged uno, elo, and nori?? ,, I was just curious. that was an amazing feat!! sincerely, marylee :loveshower:

Nancy, we do not live far from each other. I'm closer to newport, RI, Providence, RI... in a teeny town called Seekonk, mass. we should meet and go out looking for osprey nests.. LOL
