I don't know if I am especially emotional at this moment because I know we are not going to see them any longer in the near future, but this video sums up beautifully all the important moments we/they have lived through, that it has literally made me cry, a nice cry, but tears are pouring down my cheeks as I write.

Thank you, and every one else who have put photos and videos, comments and information. Thank you all for sharing.
Greetings to you all from Argentina

Thank a million, Urmas!

I was away just for a few days and I see that Piret has reached the Black sea already! Didn't realize that birds were flying so fast. I thought they stop for a few days to take a rest etc. So Piret did almost a half of her way, am I right?

:peek:

Who knows?

PIRET had no Transmitter before she came to Estonia ^^
even she was not ringed before

Thanks, meierlein. I was thinking about Sudan... OK, lets wait and we'll see. Wondering if she is flying with some other ospreys or on her own? Hm... Unbelievable how these birds know direction, specially the young ones...

:peek:

they follow the food ^^

you can find a lot of studies about the reasons of migration :book:

Thanks, SnApe, for the lovely, skillful video.

The video is created with Vegas Pro. On Vimeo the download function I set to allow. Such a video should not be block.

Do you need another format? Perhaps I can render it (using converter means to lost quality) and send you a download link.

Elo could feel (see/hear) Dad's coming..... But permanently being surround the nest it needed some seconds only until Uno came back, too.

Image

Dad! The SALVATION!
As you can see, also Nori was nearby and of course also her target: the DINING HALL .....!

Image

Look at Nori's face  "WAIT! I HURRY! .....*WHIRLING SPEED* ....." :rotf:
But ELO did NOT wait..... Why she should? She waited the whole day! So she got the fish!

I hope nobody minds if I post these portraits again, now with an explanation.

Yesterday morning it was misty and damp, and Uno and Nori happened to "pose" with their legs out showing their bands, as if for a formal portrait. (Elo finally posed after the mist was gone.)

That gave me an idea, because they will soon begin their migration, so they are "graduating" from the nest.

I don't know if other countries do this, but in the U.S.A. when a class graduates from high school they all get a yearbook with portraits of all their classmates to keep forever. Sometimes the students also vote for slogans to put below the portraits, usually things like "Cutest", "Most brainy", "Smartest", "Bravest", etc. Then they sort of predict the future by saying what each student is "most likely" to do, such as Most Likely to Land on the Moon, Most Likely to Become President, and so on. So I did all that with the Osprey portraits.

There have been so many great videos and photos and other tributes to this successful nesting season, and I wanted to offer something too, for my fellow forum members. So here they are, well-fed and well-fledged, ready to begin their first migration. I hope you like my tribute to the "nest graduates" of 2012.

I read somewhere,
that the chicks after fletching go to their nest to get food,
if they have not been successful with catching fishes

and the nest is all time the place for delivery

and a family-meeting-point ^^ :gathering:
