Whether it's Tiit or not at least Tina is happy and we well see new life in a few weeks. Anyway, maybe it is Tiit and he's gotten older. Who knows

Be it Tiit or his cousin or half brother etc or some one else, the beak of the 'new comer' is like the beak of Tiit as I remember it. It's a bit darker on the middle and a bit thicker than Tiina's.
But it is true as Mutikluti reminded that Tiit had white spots on his shoulder. Perhaps those special white feathers have just dropped off?? Tiit left them in Africa.
PS: All in all, the most important thing is that Tiina accepts her fiance.

The birds of luck, cranes, are calling. May it be Tiit or not Tiit, Tiina ist happy and there will be a new generation this year.
Tiit may have had a long life for a black stork or the many dangers on the long way have made him fail. But we should look forward on the future of the Estonian BS-population. That is why the cams are there.

I am so surprised and happy to see a male Black Stork return. There is a question of who it is, but Tiina is accepting and that's all that counts with me. Happy days are here again and we will soon see some eggs and eventually new life in this nest.
Thank you all for such marvelous pictures.

I think it is Tiit, I doubt that Tiina would greet a stranger - even after a long wait - with that much enthusiasm and joy! It was really heartwarming to watch them greet each other.
Going by spots - which are no spots, but white feathers looking out, it would be also not Tiina, because in the first year I remember that there were spots on Tiina's plumage as well.
But it is lolvely to see those two on the nest!

By the way, we have another Black Stork nest from today to watch. I got the go sign to make the Latvian Black Stork nest public - all necessary details can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=666
One stork was seen there already, let's hope a second one will also show up soon!

The question if it is Tiit or not - I thought, the storks got rings before they left Europe in autumn... Didn´t Tiina and Tiit have such rings? Only their offspring?

I thought that too, with strangers they normally have stranger anxiety first.Felis silvestris wrote:I think it is Tiit, I doubt that Tiina would greet a stranger - even after a long wait - with that much enthusiasm and joy! It was really heartwarming to watch them greet each other.
But the eyes of the male look really different.
Anyway, good to have a happy couple on the nest, whoever they are.
My fingers are crossed for a successful breed!
