i think he is still standing up, as far as i can see in the middle of the darkness. but i'm sure he is going to stay.
but how much more to the east this nest must be lie compared to the eagles' nest! it is almost complely dark here and you can still see Linda on her nest rather well.
good night! i'm off this camera. :offtobed:

Pinchu wrote:umm ... I have to ask.. is he bald or he has fair feathers on his head?
 Pinchu, I have the same question myself. Last year many observers said he was "bald" and I was very :puzzled:

Here is the back of his head from earlier today, and then a negative image of the same picture.
What are we seeing? I think maybe lighter colored feathers ...

well i think it is not the back of his head which looks bald, it's the forehead. but it a very good question: is the forehead really bald or is it only light-feathered? :puzzled:

"Our" female BS has also the top of her head very clear, like Padis. And "our" BS biologist says that it is a sign of she being imature :puzzled:

it is not the area where he is "baldy" on this picture... on this pic there are feathers in light.... he is baldhead, not baldnape (dont know what the right word in english)

Edit: a bald patch

I hope he didn't spend the winter with our raccoon dog friends at the pig cam! Can birds get mange, too? I don't remember him being soooo bald last summer. :puzzled:

Didn't Jo mention on Portuguese BS forum that Donna had light-coloured feathers on her head (like female Purtuguese BS head) ??
Just to make things more 'interesting' :innocent: :rotf:

2:48AM, Urmas, thank you for the nice video! It shows an experienced nestbuilder at work. He is economical too - pulling up old sticks from down below at the edge of the nest. Hope he'll find a mate, after all that work!
