It is situated in Läänemaa, western Estonia. Local farmers know the nest site already from the Soviet kolkhoz period. The nest is quite far from roads, about 2 kilometres as the crow flies.
In 2009 three chicks grew up there. There was no camera there in this year.
The 2010 nesting failed; in July there were only egg shells under the nest. Also no camera at the nest.
In 2011 the camera was put there for the first time and four young grew up in the nest; we could watch, with somewhat varying success, how they grew up and left the nest.
In 2012 there were four eggs, three hatched. One storklet injured its beak and had to be taken out of the nest to the veterinary hospital. Unfortunately all attempts to help the storklet failed.
At the end of the season a young White-tailed Eagle gave us a fright when he visited the nest while the two young storks still spent time on the nest.
Last year we watched how mother "Tiina" arrived already on March 29 on the nest and waited for a long time for partner "Tiit" to arrive. She even started with laying (unfertilized) eggs. On the day the second egg appeared, a strange male stork appeared and we all rejoiced, hoping for a still successful nesting season in Läänemaa with a new male partner for Tiina. However, the male stork was either too young and inexperienced, or had some other issues, he kept on destroying the eggs laid by Tiina. On April 22 both left the nest and did not return to it.
April 6: our beloved camera has just gone online, the picture is still hazy, but it looks like moss on the nest, so hopefully somebody was working on the nest already. Something white is there, but I think it is no egg.
I have kept an "?" as I have no idea who will come to the nest in this year, it can be added if and when some storks come to the nest and we see who it is.
