Lucky you, Helen to live in such surroundings!

I looked at that webcam - poor mother eagle, soaking wet!

Is that the obligatory seagull, lying alongside in the nest?

Yes, that is a seagull but it has been there for a few weeks now so I can't imagine it is going to taste very good!

another cam that is very good. Kestrel ; now has 4 eggs so far.
It is in Basle and last year I saw them raise 5 chicks succesfully ( Switzerland)
The "speak" is Switzer-dutch and I don't understand a word.
Then, no need for words just watch from either or both cams.

There seem to be more cams visual chaos
BUT I just saw the hummingbird feed a baby -- there appears to be at least one egg in the nest as well -- so it was worth it.

I quoted these from the black stork cam thread and brought them here so as not to keep depressing that thread.

I am sorry I did. :!:
Do we know anything about this? It is quite horrible.

I have been watching the owls and the falcons but not the storks.

The thread was followed through on the BS forum. News even worse than I thought.

We have Whitestork here as well, my friend Eric ist one of those who care for the nest. We saw the video of the netherlands Webcam together, it's not unusual behaviour for the birds: the chicks were lifeless already when the adult stork picked at him with his beak. Than he took it carefully with his beak, realizing it wasn't living anymore. And than he used the fastest way to remove that little body from the nest and tried to swallow it. It's hard to look at, but it's not unusual.

I was relieved to hear that the chicks were dead when eaten -- which is what I thought (but was not sure) and it is interesting that the Storks in Portugal are totally ignoring the unhatched (cracked) egg.

Watching that makes me curious about the way storks seem to often "poke" at their nests.

Here is a new link to Eagles nests and Hummingbird nest;
One can choose to watch several cams at once. I like to choose 7 because then the Hummingbird is included.
There is a real close-up cam of one Eagle nest. Really good views and full screensize if you like. They are in U.S.A.

There is sad news from the HWF Delta cam on Bald eagles. An eaglet fell from that nest today (our yesterday). I don't know any more as soon as I realised there was ONLY one little in the nest................instead of two,I turned off the cam.
Sad days for the people watching and posting there.
It is the second nest in USA that lost a little one in so short a time.
