Thank you Looduskalender for the article, and picture, and thank you again, Pähkel. That bad news on Spot laying alone in the night in forest without food, having pain under wing, put my old heart to break at first.. Thanks to the LSE heavens there is not bone brakes. Thank you, Liis for the translation!

I agree the the thought of poor little Spot huddled under a tree is just terrible. And Spot was so eager to flap those wings it is sad she does not want to stand or to stretch her wings. I hope the hematoma heals quickly and that she gains her weight.

No broken bones is really good news!!!
If Spot was injured ~ Wednesday, and found on Saturday, that is a shorter time than I had first imagined (I though it might have been a couple of weeks, with Koit coming to feed his injured fledgling. )

Our hero is Mihkel Juhkam ! Many thanks to him for saving Spot from starvation death. Lets hope that Kotkaklubi will post a picture of Mihkel and an interview.

Thank you all for news and translations. I have good hopes of Spot's recovery. Remember how feisty he has been while growing up in the nest. He has a strong character and that will be a help towards his recovery.
You show them Spot...how brave and fierce you are.
Get well soon.

Spot - he or she?
Are we right - about half seem to use she - or Joosep Tuvi ? Remember, in the video from Spot's ringing Joosep very nicely greeted Spot with "Tere poiss!" "Hello, boy" when he got up to the nest.
Whichever, but I have to confess that I can't quite bring myself to use "it" although MS Word grumbles. So much easier in Estonian, no need to choose.

Liis, thank you for not using "it"
That is for inanimate objects, but I know there are people who use "it" to refer to animals, birds and so on.
Now that I think of it - I use "it" for insects!

hei, another article about Spot!
mostly the same as earlier, but now Spot feels so much better, he is willingly eating by himself! in addition to the food he is given by hand...that sounds promising
and there is a wonderful photo of Spot, click on it to see bigger picture

Yes, Spot looks very cute and seems happy.
And if he recovers by the time when it is late for migration, is it possible to move him by train or by plane?
