Re: Iberian Nature Photography
Brit thank you! So beautiful photographs! I saw the wagtail there too.. I miss our wagtails! When they return to our little rock, it is really a promise that it is summer again to come.. Of course they have better times there in south for the moment.

Thank you very much macdoum, alice44 and Olga for your friendly remarks! I`ll pass them on to Birgit!
Wagtails like to eat insects and so they have to move further south. We only saw here, where I live in southern part of Germany, once around x-mas time a single wagtail ...

Hello to everybody!
Even if my english is not very good I wanted to say personally "thank you sooo much" for your kind comments. I´m glad that you like the pictures and the stories of the iberian animal world!
Here we have now plenty of wagtails spending the winter months. I like them so much and you can be sure, Olga, that we take care of them!
Jo, thank´s very much for your kind welcome greetings!
Next week-end we will go to the Salines of Bonanza, hoping to find there some black storks. And, at the beginning of Dicember we leave to Extremadura the european crane paradise in winter. They expect about 75.000 of those lovely birds. Of course, we hope very much to discover some of them!
Anyhow, here you will read, if you want, about each feathered friend we´ll meet!
Kind regards from southern Spain
Birgit

Difficult to say, what species is owner of that pellet, but it should be an owl.
Owls usually do not digest bones of prey, so these are easy to determine. Its about 3000km from my place, and owl species are different as in northern Europe, so...

Thank you very much Olga and Jo!
Last week-end we have been to the Salines of Bonanza and Brazo del Este once again. Thousands and thousands of birds spending the winter months there. Just amazing. We´´ll go back there as soon as possible because it´s a real birder paradise right now. - Sure, that Brit will give you soon the link to the english version of the newest travel report on iberia-natur!
Meanwhile, best regards to all of you!

Birgit spent a wonderful weekend at Brazo del Este between Seville and the Guadalquivir-mouth
And here is what they experienced and saw there.
Mr. Great white egret performs a perfect landing and ....
... here is more to be seen and to be read:
Brazo del Este, the birds paradise!
Enjoy!

Can only repeat....marvellous photographs.
How come, with all those birds in the air, there are no collisions ?
Maybe there are ? I doubt it, it seems the flocks of birds resemble those films we see of shoals of fish. All twirling in the same pattern.!!

Kuremari: Yes, for us it was also heart warming to see the black storks! :) Unfortunately, most of them were too far away for pictures. But we saw quite a lot of family groups, meanwhile the white storks were all together in big groups.
Macdoum: The secret laws those flocks are following are really very impressioning. And I think they are to clever that there will be some collisions! ;)
Thanks for your kind comments and a nice day to all of you

For two days we had been at Guadalhorce. Of course there was not as much action as at the Guadalquivir, but nice surprises and lots of joy were waiting for us.
Even an oystercatcher - which hardly appear here in the south - we saw ...
... and also lots of other nice feathered friends, for example a troop of sanderlings with whom I was able to spend quite some hours from very close. What an experience to get to know these
lively creatures better.
Here the whole story is waiting to be read:
Sanderling, oystercatcher, purple moerhen, and...and...and ...!
