During migration Raivo and Eedi (equipped with ARGOS/GPS transmitters from Microwave Telemetry) send us data after every three days, today it is transmission day for Eedi. Yesterday it was for Raivo, but no GPS locations were in package (transmitters battery is weak). In general, whole possible data will be by the end of day, but with good luck there are relevant data available already in morning (up to yesterdays locations). No data for Eedi at the moment, yet.
Karl has GSM transmitter from Ecotone, so it can send data every day and almost settings we can do remotely, sending to Karl special message. For example to take more locations during migration, but suspend data flow during wintering. But there is needed GSM network with roaming for to get data. For Karl this was missing since November and only if Karl started to migrate, he appeared in suitable network area. There was needed few days to get whole stored data since November, but we have those by now and all those are also uploaded into migration map. You can look autumn locations since November up to end of autumn season (14 Feb) going back into year 2016 and choosing S migration. There you see the second wintering place in South Sudan, Western Equatoria province (remote place with no GSM).

THAT is very interesting ! :2thumbsup:
Thank you, Urmas, for telling us all these informations.
Must have been a lot of work to upload all the data since November.
For me it is fascinating to see the migration in fast motion.
Thank you once more.
greetings from Baska

Thanks Solo for all your info

I checked again the 2016 migration; Raivo continued only when Eedi arrived to his area and than they continued in parallel ways.

So there is still time for Raivo the be the first as always :rotf:
