Seals are very inquisitive... :D They were looking with great interest for those eagles...some of them came very close to the shore...

How very strange :puzzled: when the eagles come then the seals always show up to watch. We have seen this so often.
Does anyone have an explantion ? Maybe just curiosity ? An amusement maybe ? Who knows.!! :D

Or both - eagles and seals - may have a common cause to show up: food, as a shoal of fish around. The eagles may believe that where there are seals swimming there is fish?

I suspect it is both -- the seals are curious about the eagles and the two species are watching each other to learn about where the fish are.

But it makes them both so much more fun for us to watch.

Hali, you're right: :bash: . it's simply too dark there so that the battery doesn't recharge enough to start to operate the camera and/or the transmitter. i'm afraid it's not getting much better... unless it gets better, that is if the weather turns cold and sunny, of course! :shake: i was unlucky to miss the previous landing... :faint:
i was scared nearly out of my wits when i started to watch your video. the loudspeakers were at maximum and suddenly there was this HUGE NOISE made by these seals... :rotf: it almost sounds like a pack of sheep sometimes.

The cam is working at the moment - very calm sea, no snow on the ground, no seals and no birds...

we installed freshly charged batteries, one additional solar panel, and light sensitive switch, to turn power off at nights. Hope, this will conserve enough energy to run camera every day from now. Unfortunately, is very hard to tune actual sensitivity of the switch, and maybe it will switch off too soon, or does not switch off at all. Next few days will show...

Weather was superb. Temperature was around zero, sea was calm like a mirror and sun come out right we was there. One of our dude even took short unforced bath in the freezing water :D
