 Thank, you, Jo! This is a great honour! I'm going to search the the photos of the 'personalities' I think I can recognize by outlook, and introduce them one after the other. Just to guess how many photos I have.. :slap: One of my favorites is the Squirrel with short ear fur. Maybe they are two of them, not only one. I don't know if they are 'adult' or pups.. I have no idea, but they just look so touching.. Of course the squirrels with 'normal' long ear tassels are ok too!

(the colours of their fur has changed in time when the winter is closing, and on the earlier photos my camera settings were not adjusted properly.. It was a surprice for me that they would visit so regularly almost every day...)

1) This is a male Squirrel, one of my favorites. I have a suggestion for a name for him in my mind. But it could be great that someone else would give some other name.

Image

The same nr 1. earlier in the autumn.

Image

2) Sex unknown, maybe a female. They have appeared many times on the same day, the number 1 and number 2.

Image

The same squirrel (?) earlier in the fall.

I so enjoy these squirrels!
I wonder if Long Ears and his companions know that they are nearly world-famous now?

Thank you all. I didn't know that Squirrels are that funny to watch.. The second Squirrel of the day just turned his back to me.. There was surprisingly quiet on the feeder today. It is getting colder. Weather broadcast warned of 15-20 degrees frost for tomorrow morning.

Thank you both, Olga and Jo!

The squirrels are really very cute and pure fun to watch! They have deserved to have a thread of their own.

The next move of the Squirrel was to hurry to hide his nuts in the snow :D

Image

Soon he was back. He stayed in the feeder. He sat there and took maybe a nap, it was a cold morning -12 C!

Olga, such wonderful pictures. How lucky we are that you put the feeder in that place!!

Names for squirrels - we must find names for them. Any ideas, anyone?
I suppose Long Ears could remain Long Ears, but what about the others. Olga, what do you call them?

Thank you for those photos,Olga.. we are following the "Feeder" story now.
How about Jack and Jill as names ? Any other suggestions ?
They really should have names from their homecountry ? :dunno:

15th December, Upstairs, Downstairs

hm.. Finnish names also would be alright .. hm.. hm.. :puzzled:
I propose that the short eared squirrel could be Little Matti (we have fairy tails about Pikku-Matti, , also Matti, all in all it is an usual male name here. (I think now that there is only one short fur eared squirrel. I thought that the one with 'thick' short fur on ears was a different squirrel, but maybe Matti's ear fur have began to grow? And on many days I saw first him, it was rainign and the small ear fur were wet.. I'm not sure..)

The second squirrel for today. This one moves differnetly to Matti. He/she is as a way more alert and more carefull. If he notes me he escapes immediately.

Image

Only two or just one Great tit visits this feeder. There are not too many of them..? Maybe. Black birds do not come at all. They keep further from the windows, and search something from the snow.. the nut stores of Squirrels.. The woodbecker visit every other day and it too is very shy. Also Cresed tits don't stay for long time on the feeder.
