Thank you Bea for the great pictures and the video. It always amazes me how Ospreys handle such big wooden branches and fly with it through the area. I had to laugh at Mati, he brought such a large specimen to the nest, arranged it and wupps the branch dropped out of the nest. Also all other arrangements did not pleases him, a female partner  is also not there and so he flew away again.

You´re all welcome

I am curious for how long he will still appear on the nest and whether LF will return the next days. There was no sign of her on the nest since two days.

LA is not far from LF :puzzled:

They could be about the same age

Wow - LF defends the nest bravely. I assume that this LA is a male, because from the stature he looks smaller.
Today I have not seen any ospreys in the nest.

Bea, can Urmas tell you were LA was ringed, how long ago and about how old the osprey is?
The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Of course I´ve sent info, but no reply yet - it is a busy time for Eagle men now and a reply will last .... will post it as soon as I got something more to know.

But as ring letters LA are close to LF (where we have datas (viewtopic.php?p=522649#p522649) I suppose that they are from same year, close together.

News about osprey LA :shake:

LA was ringed on the same day like LF - on 1. July 2015, by Joosep Tuvi, but in a different nest.

LA´s nest is a neighbour nest of kalakotkas-nest here, in a distance of about 4 km and the clutch had three osprets.
In 2016 this nest was not successful, the heavy storms last year blew the osprets out of the nest (like it happened with the smaller ospret in Irma & Ivo´s nest).

That day not only also birdmap-osprey Kalle was trapped and tagged, also female Tiiu was trapped and could be released from her malfunctioning transmitter.

That day must have been a day full of work - but also full of success :D

Bea, good news about LA!
Sorry to hear that all chicks were lost on that nest last season.

I would like to know if the Estonian Eagle Club writes a blog for us.
It would be great if they gave us updates periodically in a Forum.
I understand that it might be too much to ask for, I know that they are always busy.
I do think that all of us are very interested in the ringed chicks that we have watched grow up, to find out about their returns and their own nests.

Oh, I agree that this would be very interesting - but I fear it will stay wishful thinking

And I think when they want to publish events, of which they think they are interesting for us, they will use the forum here
