Winter in Austria
The snow that had fallen on the past friday started melting quickly and by now not much is left.
But today some new snow has been falling above an altitude of about 1000m.

In December 2008 we already had something like 1 metre of snow. This year is "a bit" dfferent

Wow, that is interesting, the difference between your years. Things are changing here too - our second cold winter in a row but no snow (yet).

Is that normal? I would have thought Austria would be snow covered from November to March!

In earlier years there´s been far more snow than now. The higher parts of the mountains are still covered with snow several months each year. But in the lower parts there´s not much snow - usually. And usually it soon melts again...hdarbysh wrote:
This year there is less snow than in an average year. Last year there was far more snow than usual. We had 175cm in the garden!!!
Now there is 0,5cm

All over Europe people seem to be getting snow -- and in much of North America -- but not here. When it stops you should have a nice coat of snow.
