WHITE - an African tourist!
For a month, we had no news from our WHITE, young man who flew out of the nest at the Grotniki Forest District in August last year. Today, we finally established contact with him thanks to our foot transmitter. As you can see, the device does not bother him in further conquering Africa :-) The bird moved slightly to the north of its previous location and it probably made the logger established communication with the GPS station, especially since WHITE flew into the largest national park Yankari in Nigeria in the southern part of the state of Bauchi. The park is distinguished by a few warm springs and a huge diversity of flora and fauna. It is the most popular tourist destination and plays a major role in the development of tourism in Nigeria. We envy a little WHITE African warmth, beautiful views and we are happy that we can follow his fate again (JS).

Yellow is also OK, but Backpack(Plecak) was shot in Turkey. So far two of four tagged junior storks from 2017 survived.

With BIAŁY, we lost contact again on January 22, probably still staying in the vicinity of the National Park in Nigeria
the another BS storklet (ŻÓŁTY = YELLOW) has unusual migration path (storklet is in Saudi Arabia, Tabuk area)
Rainfall in the Tabuk Area occurs from November to March.

Black Stork in Saudi Aarabia, also in Tabuk area:
- http://www.birdsofsaudiarabia.com/searc ... ck%20Stork - nice photos and this infos:
24 Oct 2015: "Viv Wilson sent me some photos of a Black Stork Ciconia nigra he found in Tabuk on 16 October 2015 and has kindly allowed me to use them on my website. This was the first time he had seen the species in Tabuk and is a good record for the area. Black Stork is an uncommon migrant and winter visitor to western regions of Saudi Arabia including the Red Sea coast, especially the extreme southwest. The species, however has a very different status in the Eastern Province where it is a vagrant with its status in central Arabia and the Riyadh area a scarce visitor. There were no records from Riyadh prior to 1988 but in that year there were sightings of 2 on 27 and 28 October, I on 25 December and perhaps the same bird again on 31 December. Since then records have become more common with all sightings coming from the Riyadh watercourse. Birds appear to use the Red Sea cast to migrate down and are often seen in the Jeddah area and the Jizan region where they are almost always associated with water bodies. Birds are mainly seen singly bit in the west and southwest flocks of over ten birds are occasionally seen."
24 May 2012 and 31 May 2011: "Black Stork is a rare bird in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia with The Birds of the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia by Bundy, Connor & Harrison (published in August 1989) only having five records of six birds. There are at least two more records for the Eastern Province both of which occurred in the same place as this record, one in spring 2009 and one I found last year on 4th May. This is another example of how dust storms can bring down migrants in the most unlikely places."

news FB Regionalna Dyrekcja Lasów Państwowych w Łodzi https://goo.gl/iwwnAq
(GT) YOUNGER (a younger nestling, which in 2016 flew out of the nest on a pine tree), continues to winter in the south of Sudan, exactly in the same place as a year earlier. The main difference is that in the winter of 2016/2017 (as a place to stay), he did not like the electric traction pole at the bottom of the drawing, and this winter he does not like the pole at the top of the drawing - no one knows why :) However, the middle poles willingly use now and used the year before. The distance between these extreme pillars is 1200 m - no distance for such a good aviator. For us, the most important thing is that the stork is doing well, the battery is fully charged and the locator regularly sheds information.

ŻÓŁTY = YELLOW has unusual migration path (storklet was in Saudi Arabia, Tabuk area)
(GT) On the fifth of February he started a journey to the north ... He flew from Saudi Arabia, probably in search of a more humid area, 05.02 defeated about 213 km, stopped and stayed overnight near Ma'an city in Jordan on the next day he covered 116 km, on the seventh of February defeated another 155 km and stopped near the city of Jarash, we are curious where this time our traveler will stop "bird intuition"
